Trip Report The (second) ONE with enhanced cleaning and (a little less) Physical Distancing. Sept 2020

How is everyone doing out there???

A little background on this trip. This trip was origionally booked as a Food and Wine/Birthday girls getaway with two of my friends. We booked The Poly at 7 months Thursday through Sunday. (One friend’s bday was Thurs, the other was Sunday! Sooooo perfect!!!)
Buuuuut, they are both teachers and were not allowed to go. (Read that again. Not Allowed☹️)
I had the reservation and I wanted to go. My friend, R and I had a trip in April we had canceled. We had rescheduled for October to do a Halloween party (Nope!) and a DVC moonlight madness (Nope again). Then, she lost her job😞 so she came back to work with me. Her Mom, Gpa and Uncle own the business.
“Hey R, want to go to Disney in September instead?”
“Yeah!”
“Should we add a night? I still have 18 points I can use.”
“Yeah”
“Do you think we can get the extra day off?”
She looks at me. I look at her. 😂😂😂
I mean, her Mom makes the schedule.

She booked her flight, bought her park tickets, made her park reservations and we were set.

Tuesday night, September 15th I caught the sunset and headed to bed for an early start the next morning.

Wednesday, September 16 came early. R’s Gma was flying back to Ft Lauderdale an hour before our flight. So we all went together to help her out.

We were not sitting together because our flights were booked seperately. I asked to move us together but I asked on the late side and it was a no go. It was fine. We watched movies. I love Jet Blue TV’s!

Yay! The sign said 45 minute wait. The woman who checked us in pointed out the sign and said it “could” take 45 minutes.
EA7403DA-8F58-4B46-912D-ED39F571F321.jpeg

Overheard on the ME: “Mom, I dont want to go to the Magic Kingdom!”
“Where do you want to go?”
“Legoland!!”
Haha😂
Lets check the weather...

Back of the bus. Not a 45 minute wait but about 20.

Too far in the back of the bus to get THE SIGN. How about the side of the road? Almost as good???

For the record, we went to Wilderness Lodge, BLT, the Contemporary and then The Polynesian.

We finally made it and were ready to let the fun begin!!

Just finally got all caught up with your TR! The Polynesian has really been off their game on this trip! Sorry you never got to eat the nachos for dinner. :( We found the line for FOP moved along very quickly last week even though the time said 45 minutes. It took more like 30 and was mostly continuous the whole time!

We did the standyby line, obviously. I don’t recall ever being in the standby line.

This tree circled in red looked like an asparagus spear. We were cracking up.

Our guide was named Liz and she was excellent!

The Bongos decided to create a traffic jam as they attempted to cross the road. We sat there for almost 7 minutes according to the time stamps on my photos.

The giraffe were active. Liz was doing a wonderful job of not rushing us through. After the hold up at the beginning I thought we would be flying (or as I like to say “driving like my husband”) to make up for lost time. Nope.

The lighting on the above picture was not great. I put a filter on it to try to get the giraffes to “pop” a little bit.
Yeah....that didnt work😒

It was a great safari. R’s favorite ride/attraction of the day.
Speaking of R, what do you think we did next???
If you said shopped, you know R!

Next it was off to Gorilla falls. The large glass viewing wall is usually so crowded. I was interested in how Disney was going to handle this area.
They had a line with markers 6 ft apart and two “lanes”. There were also CM’s droning on, “have your camera out. Keep moving. Please keep physically distances from those around you...”
Most people listened. Except the people in front of us. They did a 10 minute photo shoot. I finally told them they had to move because we were coming in. (Yeah, I was a little bit of a bully but I would still be waiting if I hadn't said anything.)

I was a little concerned because this⬆️ is Gino’s usual spot and I didn't see him.

There he is! On the opposite side. His kids must have been getting on his nerves. Or he was trying to keep physically distanced (he is older, perhaps he is high risk🤷‍♀️).
54EC2B29-D40B-46A4-BA78-52C5914CA357.jpeg

But still, he is usually over in the shade and seeing his head in the sun made me think his kids were especially annoying this morning.

This is R. See the circle on the ground? There were three of them. We had our cameras ready and kept it moving.

We decided to head towards Asia

and stopped for a snack.

After consulting the allergy book I ordered a dumpling and a french fry. (I was shocked there weren’t any onions in the dumpling. Thinking back, there was probably scallions and it didn't raise a red flag with me. R was fine btw.)

Both the dumplings and the fries are so good. Like, really good!!!

Next up was Kali River Rapids. I need to say that I usually skip this ride. The line gets too long and I don’t feel it is worthy of wasting a FP. Disney really blew it with this. It’s so short and the story is a real downer and it’s so short. Also, it’s short. They should just hose you down and yell at you about deforestation as you walk by. No line necessary. But with little to no wait and temps soaring, we rode the rapid. (Notice I didnt make it plural?😀)

The queue is very beautiful even if the ride is trending toward lame.

Next we headed to the Jungle trek.
First up was a Komodo dragon.
