Our trips are annual so it surprises me when things like that scary angler fish on the robotic arm aren't working from year to year. I always say "Oh he'll be back next trip". Anyone know the story on that one. Such a cool effect and I think adds a whole lot to a ride that is primarily video based. I still love that ride. Was that song "In a Big Blue World" created for the on stage show or that ride? I don't remember it in the movie. Woops. Two topics. Sorry.

God bless the "Ignore" button.
The angler fish is built on a Kuka arm, similar to the guns at Stitch and the ride system for Sum of all Thrills. Not to mention the RVs and Whomping Willow at Forbidden Journey. Unfortunately, Disney is notoriously slow at fixing the ones at Stitch and Nemo ( I don't know about Sum). If I recall, they actually have to be fixed by someone certified in Kuka repairs, trained by the corporation, which is homed in Germany. So it gets expensive.
And the song "Big Blue World", written by none other than Bobby Lopez, is originally for the musical.

TubaG. Nice. Thanks for the info. 1. Love the song. 2. The fish was a great effect but I'm wondering why they'd set themselves up like that. To have an effect like that set up by a company who couldn't be as responsive to maintain it as much as an internal group could be. It would still be effective even with a simpler motion. But then again, who am I to talk. I have trouble recording shows on my dvr.

Kuka does far more than their entertainment products and conducts business around the world.

Yep.

Needless to say, a single broken fish-droid isn't exactly high on KUKA's priority list.

I was more thinking that there should be no shortage of people capable of fixing Disney's robotic arm. Kuka is too big for there to just be a small team of technicians based in Germany.
