The creator of Last Man Standing is reuniting with series star Tim Allen for a new Disney+ series set in the world of The Santa Clause. The film franchise, which featured Allen as a selfish man who learned to be more loving when he accidentally killed Santa Claus and had to take over the role, has earned almost $500 million at the box office since it began in 1994. The last installment in the series, which featured Martin Short as a villainous take on Jack Frost, was released in 2006. Allen will executive producer, along with Scott Burditt, the creator of Last Man Standing, who will serve as a showrunner.

The Disney Branded Television series is a production of 20th Television.

Allen won a People's Choice Award for his portrayal of Scott Calvin, Santa Claus's proxy, complete with expanding waistline, rosy cheeks and snow-white whiskers in the 1994 film The Santa Clause. He went on to play the role in two sequels, 2002's The Santa Clause 2 (which saw Santa forced to find a Mrs. Claus) and 2006's The Santa Clause 3: The Escape Clause.

In the Disney+ series, Scott Calvin is on the brink of his 65th birthday, and realizing that he can't be Santa forever. He's starting to lose a step in his Santa duties, and more importantly, he's got a family who could benefit from a life in the normal world, especially his two kids who have grown up at the Pole. With a lot of elves, children, and family to please, Scott sets out to find a suitable replacement Santa while preparing his family for a new adventure in a life south of the pole.

The Santa Clause has always been my favorite Christmas movie so I'm really excited for this! I didn't love the sequel and the third one was pretty bad imo so I hope the series is good, but I'll def be watching at least for nostalgia!

As long as they can keep this show out of politics unlike the way the two of them did with Last Man Standing then it ought to be pretty good. I love The Santa Clause movies and this show has potential to be awesome.

'The Santa Clauses' has been renewed for Season 2 on Disney+ -

"On the heels of its Season 1 finale, Disney+ has announced a Season 2 renewal for The Santa Clauses, with Tim Allen and Elizabeth Mitchell set to reprise their roles as Mr. and Mrs. Clause."

“This franchise has had a lasting impact for so many families, truly becoming part of their annual holiday traditions,” said Ayo Davis, president, Disney Branded Television. “Bringing it back as a series has been a true gift, and I’m grateful to our producing partners at 20th Television and, of course, Tim Allen and team, that we have yet another reason to celebrate this holiday season.”

I'm happy to hear this, I've enjoyed the show a lot.

The show was ok. It started out a bit weak but the last couple episodes were pretty good. I've said it before, Disney just struggles with consistency on the tv side of things. But I'm glad it got a 2nd season. I figured when it ended that it was planned for more than one season.

"Time for Eric Stonestreet to put on an angry face: The Modern Family will join the cast of the Disney+ Original series The Santa Clauses as Magnus Antas (aka the Mad Santa), who reigned during the 14th century and is now returning to try and take down Scott Calvin (Tim Allen) and reclaim the North Pole.

In the second season, the Calvin family is back in the North Pole as Scott continues his role as Santa Claus after retirement plans were thwarted when failing to find a worthy successor in season one. Now that Scott and his family have successfully saved Christmas, Scott turns his focus towards training his son Calvin to eventually take over the “family business” as Santa Claus."
