I would say the ride is only short because it has a LIM launch, and most LIM coasters are short, but Disney kind of proves this wrong, as California Screamin' has a LIM launch, as well, and it is still quite a long ride...although it is 6072 feet long (6th longest steel coaster in the world; LONGEST LIM coaster in the world)...still, this ride could have been longer, it's just the fact that they wanted to enclose it. It's very tough to enclose a BIG coaster (not to mention expensive). So as far as enclosed LIM coasters go (not too many of them, but regardless...) it's a long ride

Just to give you an idea of typical LIM coaster lengths, for comparison, here are the top 10 in the world
1. California Screamin 6072 feet
2. Rock 'n' Roller Coaster(both) 3403 feet
3. Superman the Ride (in Holland) 3280 feet
4. Volcano-The Blast Coaster 2757 feet
5. Flight of Fear and its clones 2705 feet
6. Speed 1361 feet
7. Mr. Freeze (both) 1300 feet
8. Superman the Escape 1235 feet
9 and 10. Batman and Robin: The Chiller--one track is 1229 feet, and the other is 1137
So, you can see that within reason, Disney has long LIM coasters (top two spots in the world...not too shabby)
