Johnson takes trip to 'Tomorrowland'
Segment of Disneyland gets 'Pirates' treatment
By MICHAEL FLEMING

After turning the theme park ride "Pirates of the Caribbean" into a blockbuster film trilogy, Disney is circling an entire segment of its theme park — Tomorrowland — as inspiration for a space movie that will star Dwayne Johnson.

The studio has set scribes Jon Lucas and Scott Moore to draft an epic-sized action adventure set in space. The film is being designed as a vehicle for Johnson, who starred for the studio in family hit "The Game Plan" and most recently completed "Race to Witch Mountain."

Disney denies the film has been titled "Tomorrowland" or is dedicated to the park’s section, a futuristic area of the Magic Kingdom that includes such attractions as Space Mountain. The studio called the nascent project an original script.

The film would be produced by Mayhem Pictures partners Mark Ciardi and Gordon Gray, who produced "The Game Plan."

The scribes most recently wrote the upcoming Matthew McConaughey-Jennifer Garner starrer "The Ghosts of Girlfriends Past" from New Line, as well as comedy "The Hangover," which Todd Phillips will direct for Warner Bros.

Interesting... I'm not so excited about the idea of the Rock starring in it, but the concept sounds interesting. But like someone else said, as long as it doesn't turn into the haunted mansion.

To each his own, but to me this sounds like one of those dreadfully uninteresting Disney family movies. Not really the kind the kind of movie I would enjoy.

Disney synergy usually works more wonders on accountant spreadsheets than on my imagination. ;)

Gossip, gossip, gossip. Variety have claimed the movie is based on Tomorrowland with no evidence to back it up, and Disney have denied it. This could be something original.

Yeah. Comingsoon.net says that the movie is going to be a "action adventure set in space". Maybe it will be more along the lines of something like Star Wars then; before the Clone Wars film.

I've thought some more about this film in the last couple of days. I'm starting to think that maybe the filmmakers will try to reproduce the look of tommorowland in the movie- overhead transits(TTA), Interplanitary convention center, etc- while crafting a "action adventure in space" around it. I also dont think they will flat out call this film Tommorowland. Like Fun2BFree said, Variety has no proof to back up their theory and Disney has stated that the project is an original script.
