The Happily Ever After theme song belongs in Hong Kong Disneyland. ;)

I agree that RDCT should be replaced, but with something of the same quality.
As should always be the case, but often isn’t.

We haven’t gotten that yet.
Yup, still waiting. I was not into DLF at all, and that was Remember’s logical successor. On the other hand, I LOVE Magical, but it was never intended to be a flagship show. It’s way smaller in scale. If it were up to me, I’d schedule Magical year-round. But until we get another full-scale fireworks spectacular, we’ll still be waiting for that successor.

RDCT at Disneyland was so good that when I went to WDW, I thought they had just made an inferior copy not realizing it started at WDW.

I always thought it was ironic that Remember...Dreams Come True is an advertisement for Disneyland for which the guests watching it have just paid to go inside a theme park to watch an advertisement for the very theme park they are already at. It's like some sort of advertisement inception (three levels down!)...

I don't want to say I'll stop visiting Disneyland when they discontinue running this show, but I'll stop visiting Disneyland when they discontinue this show.

I'm honestly kinda surprised that they don't run Magical! in the offseason. It's the perfect length and it packs more of a punch than Fantasy in the Sky does, but it's not as grand as something like Disneyland Forever or Remember. I dunno.

It isn't like that at all. Disneyland is a collective experience, a sum greater than its parts. The show, like illuminations at epcot, is a thesis statement for the identity of the park. it is a summary, or conclusion. That is like saying that every summary in a documentary or textbook or article is advertising the article and some sort of inception. Nope.

The show is perfectly constructed logic and highly emotional. Follow along:

Idea 1.a. Remember... Dreams come true, when you have the power to wish upon a star and unlock its magic. Are you ready? They're speaking directly to the audience.
When you wish upon a star/wishes.
1.b. Support/examples for idea 1: Disney animation character moments--Examples of people's dreams coming true in their lives, in their stories. It sounds like fantasy but it is no different from the heroes journey in happily ever after. Look! Here are some fictional characters that did so in their private lives: lived up to their potential, found love, overcame obstacles and adversity. These people followed their hearts, you can too.
1.c. This is the climax of the intro: The most ambitious dream of all was the dream of disneyland. Here, they introduce walt, humanize him, and play his dedication speech: "To all who come to this happy place, welcome. Disneyland is your land. Here age relives fond memories of the past, and here youth may savor the challenge and promise of the future. Disneyland is dedicated to the ideals, the dreams, and the hard facts that have created America, with the hope that it will be a SOURCE OF JOY, AND INSPIRATION, TO THE WORLD.
He was a human that did the unthinkable: he created this entire fantasy landscape that nobody thought should or could exist, and here we all are 62 years later. The dream of disneyland is the greatest dream and achievement of them all. Far more significant than anything fictional scene from a disney animated classic.
It then runs through disneyland, summarizing it, capturing its parts, to demonstrate the sum of its parts.

Wishes / when you wish upon a star is reprised in the finale and it ends with...
"Remember... Dreams Come True"
The logical conclusion we've been building towards:

If they, and if Walt, can achieve those dreams, then our dreams can come true too.
In the end, the show isn't advertising disneyland, it's inspiring and empowering us to think like Disneyland's heroes, Walt included (blending fiction and nonfiction) when we reenter the world, and to build upon our lives. It captures the mission statement of Disneyland, which is the hope "that it will be a source of joy, and inspiration, to all the world."

The most significant violation of a thesis nighttime spectacular that Together Forever commits is that it takes this thing, that like a park map or maybe one other E-ticket depending on the park (like spaceship earth) fully summarizes and captures the collective experience of that park, and replaces it with something super specific and undeserving of the platform. A pixar show would be fine in fantasyland theater, and since it is a temporary show I don't mind as much, but the park needs a show that captures either the heart and soul of ALL disney IP or more importantly Disneyland. Together Forever doesn't do that, while wishes, RDCT, HEA, Illuminations, and Rivers of Light do.

An advertisement, it is not. It is a celebration.

I have some quibbles. The little girl song is just annoying. Disney constantly has really embarrassing music in their live entertainment. The removal of the Frontierland part was stupid. And of course, the phoney stock sound effects in the Star Wars part are just baffling. They couldn't use the real sound effects?

Other than that, it seems to be the best fireworks show they've ever done.
