Our server was Ron and he was great. He brought the bread and the sundried tomato olive oil and I could have eaten nothing but that all night because it was so good.

Ant’s app was the sushi and I got the pizza with fig jam and duck and blue cheese etc and I could have eaten nothing but that all night because, it was so good.

Ant had the venison and I had the pork tenderloin which was good but busy. Lots going on on that plate. It was served on goat cheese polenta and I could have eaten nothing but the polenta all night because, it was so good.

Some peanut butter banana thing for Ant which was good but needed some crunch. And I got the chocolate torte which was good but I was way too full to appreciate it.

Then we took the monorail back to MK. At the Poly we had the pleasure of four twenty somethings joining us, one of them with the biggest mouth ever, claiming to have just transferred there from Disneyland and explaining to his friends how there is this thing called a monorail pub crawl and how they demolished the big dome thing at the Poly which had really great authentic food and an awesome fire dancer, to make room for Moana's water adventure.
And my favorite, when he transferred he didnt go into food and beverage because he was already a Chef at three restaraunts in Costa Mesa and the pay wasnt good.
All this between the Polynesian and MK. It was ALOT!

I think we know this server. Was there any mention of a book coming out? Great server, interesting guy😀

Then walked to the Contemporary for our dinner reservation at California Grill. A first for us both. As a first I wanted the whole experience, we were about 40 minutes early and I asked if we could sit at the bar for a pre dinner drink. As luck would have it there was room.
That looked like such a wonderful dinner experience at the California Grill. I like their plate presentations of the various menu items. Also, that's a very pleasant photo of the both of you, at your window location (with the nighttime view). :)

I dont remember the names exactly so feel free to shout them out if you know them.
A blackberry muddled vodka thing for Ant and a blueberry lemon martini for me. Both very good. Very fresh. No bottled sweet n sour mix here.
We chatted with the single diner next to us and with bartender, I want to say Climata? Bartender C has been working at WDW for 45 years. He had some good stories.
I had to look back at my report (cause I'm old) Clinta maybe on the bartender? That is who we had for our Cali Grill dinner. I do remember that blackberry drink that is what I had YUM!!!

And I'm thinking this group plus @Tuvalu and @amjt660 and Disney may have imploded LOL

Excellent mini trip report. Looking forward to the next one. 👍
Thank you. We do have plans for our youngest son’s graduation. It’s with a group so not sure if I will report. Maybe just some high/low lights😀
You have me rethinking California Grill. It all looked so good.
It was all really good. Next time I would sit at the bar where you can order ala carte and get the pizza and a drink (or 2…😉)
Nice! Safe travels!! 4 (and 75) are nuts!!
So far so good. Thanks!

Was the menu at CG the 50th anniversary menu? Or was it a different prix fixe? Don’t remember any of those dishes when we ate off the 50th prix fixe menu.

Thanks for sharing your short and fun visit! Wish I could have joined the Magician meet.
It was the 50th. And I have the menu (for @MickeyCB ) to prove it.

You were missed…

Ron IS great!! And he’s been there a long time…almost ten years ago, I ate at CG with a bunch of WDWMagicians, and our waitress was a dud—but we were adjacent to Ron’s section and he butted in to our delight. Saved the evening.

He did not mention a book but he was wonderful. My bil has my husband convinced he has a cow’s milk allergy so I told the hostess, when she asked about allergies that my husband had one. Ron gave Ant an allergy friendly menu and the fun began. Ron was confused at first because Ant kept insisting he was fine and did not need an allergy menu. Finally Ant declares to Ron and me “I don’t have a cow’s milk allergy!” Ron looked at me and I said, “ we got him. I just wanted him to admit it.”

Great view but I did forget to mention, the fireworks were blah. Enchantment, is that what they are calling it? There were some really long pauses which did not work for people who can not see the projections. 👎👎
