Pre-Trip The Princess & The Pirate: A BFF Trip to Disney World

So I know what you are thinking. Here comes Millerpoppins again with a Pre-Trip Report but she hasn't even finished the other one that is on this page. Stop going to Disney and finish writing your trip reports. Haha...just kidding! While I do know I have some more writing to do and need to sum up the adventure of Jennie getting married and my return to Disneyland, I have to let you in on my upcoming plans to the World!

This trip came out out of a promotion email from Disney Destinations with a free dining offer or a discount. Oh what's that you say? Free food? Oh...that may be something I could be interested in as I am always looking to procure some food. (I sound like Pooh with honey). So I called up my "wifey" Samantha and said.."Wanna go?" I can't write out her full response here as it's not playschool toy appropriate, but within 24 hours we were booked for 5 days and 4 nights at Disney's Pop Century with the free Quick Service Dining Plan and Park Hopper Tickets. I'll admit...I'm a bit skeptical about the QSP. To me, I just think..."that's a LOT of French fries". But I know there are a ton of other options out there that do not come with fries even though I do LOVE them. But I will report back and let you know how it goes.

So to give you some background. You guys have met Jennie, one of my oldest friends. And of course you met Tim. But all of you have yet to meet Sam.

A long time ago, in a far away land called New Jersey, a young girl had just moved to the area and joined a dance studio. She had been dancing since she was little but when her family decided to relocate from PA to NJ, she decided to continue dancing down there. During one of her first tap classes, she met a red headed girl named Samantha. Samantha never spoke. Ever. The little girl thought... "I could never be friends with someone who doesn't speak", for this little girl never shut up. Over time, her dance studio had them paired in class after class and travel to event after event. The biggest one came when they were able to travel to Walt Disney World to dance in the Magic Kingdom. Samantha and the little girl bonded while in Disney World and became closer friends. (The little girl is me if you really haven't figured that out yet :) ).

As we entered high school, Sam and I had most of our classes together as well as going to dance every night. As time went on, we became inseparable. Two more trips down to Disney in our High School years brought us closer together as well as making our love for Disney even stronger.

1999

By Senior year, we had every class together, had our part time jobs together and were also fully involved with our dance studio. Our last dance trip down to Disney was so memorable.

We really thought we were hot s*&t.

So not.

Fast forward a bit...going through College and then our twenties, our love of Disney stayed strong. We ended up living together for two years and had many nights watching old Disney films or Disney specials on the Travel Channel. When my dream finally came true of moving to Florida, Sam was crushed that I was going so far but happy that I was fulfilling such a big dream. She came down to visit often and had a trip booked after I wasn't even down there for two weeks.

I loved when she would visit because I knew she would never get sick of going to the parks with me.

While her and I share a lot of common interests and a same awful sense of humor, we are both different in a lot of ways. She is a Princess. STRAIGHT UP. And this is nothing I wouldn't say to her face. She loves pink and everything girlie and magical. Ummm...if you don't know by now...that's NOT me. I'd rather be a pirate anyday. Everything that's supposed to be for boys at Disney, is my bag. Together though we have a love for Walt, old school Disney nostalgia and playing in the Parks for hours.

This year marks our 19th year of being friends. And this is honestly our first real trip to the World together. Just us flying down and staying at the hotel. Just us rolling through the Parks together. And just us being stupid and goofy. I'm beyond excited for this trip. She is my sister. And I honestly don't know what on earth I would do without her. She's the Sully to my Mike. The Woody to my Buzz. Oh and another thing...she's also getting married this year. Adds another layer to my excitement of our trip.

And oh yeah...it starts TODAY.

So stay tuned. I can't wait to report back on this one.
