The Poly to MK?

During my next trip we have an early breakfast at the Kona Cafe. Now I know you can take the monorail to MK, but I'm wondering, is it quicker than the boat? If you take the boat, exactly where is it located?

Do you want to get to the Poly from MK or are you talking about getting to the MK from Poly after breakfast?

The boat is located on the dock past the marina (to the left of the main pool as you exit out the back of the Great Ceremonial House.) It may have guests on it upon arrival, as it stops at the GF first...but then goes directly to MK from there. It is a nice ride, but not a huge time saver (if at all) over riding the monorail (especially since Kona is very close to the monorail platform.)

The boats that run from GF to Poly to MK are on the smaller side, compared to the boats from Wilderness Lodge. I would take the monorail.

The monorail might be a little faster but the boat is such a beautiful way to get to the MK from the Poly. Also, once at the MK there are only a few people getting off the boat compared to the hundred that will be squeezing down a ramp to the MK.

It really all depends on "is there a boat right there when I need it" vs. "is there a monorail right there when I need it." We actually tested this in reverse...MK to Poly - boat vs. monorail. The boat won by a couple of minutes.

Either is okay - but we prefer the boats - more relaxing, restful, calming - great views of the birds that frequent the area and the surrounding flora, etc.

If you're concerned with time, I'd stick with monorail. Kona is right there on the same floor as the monorail platform and your only stop in that direction is GF (as opposed to making two stops on the loop from MK to Poly, at CR and TTC). Boat ride is cool...I actually prefer the boat coming from MK to Poly, particularly at night as you approach the torch-lit landscape.

By the way, make sure at least one person in your party gets the Tonga Toast- it's an all-time fav!

The monorail tends to run nice and fast in the morning, but gets bogged down in the afternoon and evening as guests start to crowd onto the resort loop trains in order to get from the Magic Kingdom to the TTC (even though they ought to just be riding the designated express).

The boats are typically a solid option all-day-long, but they make more sense in the evening when the monorail becomes impractical.

I would take the Monorail there. The boat stops at Grand Floridian as well. Its a good 20 minute ride where the monorail would be about 10

The boat goes directly to MK from the Poly. The boat stops at the GF on the way from the MK to the Poly.
Absolutely correct again Tuvalu.

Personally we very much enjoy the about 5-7 minute boat ride and never use the monorail. The time difference really isn't that significant enough to base your decision on that.

Given the walk to the monorail from Kona, I'd take the monorail. The boat tends to take longer, plus you have a longer ride. If you leave Kona, you walk 30 feet and you're at the Monorail.
