The philharmagic show building- bigger than you think

It’s probably easy to think that the philharmagic show building isn’t that big, it’s a theater show, not a dark ride. But that’s exactly where your wrong, you see, it’s actually bigger than the largest traditional style dark ride at the magic kingdom currently- the many adventures of Winnie the pooh.
Take a look

And the Philharmagic building

This is very large for a show building, and even could fit a ride the size of the little mermaid, albeit one more similar to Winnie the Pooh would be a more comfortable fit. That’s all, feel free to share ideas about what you’d put in this space

Of course. There isn’t really any room next to village haus, however my idea is gutting out the philharmagic building, and using it for a larger, more modern phinoccio dark ride. More on the scale of Winnie the Pooh than mr toad at Disneyland. Probably a solid 3/4 minute ride. The attraction would also feature a extensive themed queue and a pre show showing phinoccio coming to life, or that could be apart of the ride. it wouldn’t be the same ride at Paris Disneyland and Tokyo, but rather an original larger layout with bigger show scenes. The village haus would likely be rethemed, possibly to tie in with its a small world or just call it village haus. Or retheme it to Mary poppins.
I'm alright with Philharmagic, it's a pretty good show. Even if it sucked though it's still a nice place to rest and get out of the sun. There's some other areas in Fantasyland that are more in need of the love.

Here's my oldie, but a goodie from last year...

Fantasyland - Alice in Wonderland (in the northern part of the Speedway), Sleeping Beauty (Fairytale Hall), Pinocchio (next to Village Haus)

There's plenty of room where the restrooms are. But Philharmagic's not a bad place to put a new Pinocchio ride too. Since it is right across from it.

Mharrington might like your idea quite a bit. He's been trying to find the perfect spot for a Pinocchio attraction. He even thought about demoing the speedway and putting it over there.
Awesome! I’ll contact him in a little. Even have a mock-up of the layout. The utilidoors are also in there so that could easily be reconfigured, move them around and maybe level out the ground. The main area that would be used would primarily be the theater itself along with a backstage area behind it as the loading station. The exit ramp would be gutted and reconfigured for backstage storage , and you’d exit out the gift shop. For the ride system I’d imagine a typical fantasyland dark ride style, though maybe with something as a gimmick to make it stand out. Perhaps it could also use a simple trackless ride system. I’m not sure if they can go in tinier spaces like this but it would help with a linear path, maybe some slight variations. It would use many audio animatronics, projection effects and practical sets to creat w a sort of classic dark ride with modern stuff. Maybe the cars can move or are on little motion bases, some kind of realistic rumble in the seats to mimic rough terrain, wind, stuff like that.

That might make Hollywood too Mickeycentric. With Runaway, and the Mickey shorts pretty close by.

They've already got a problem with having too much Star Wars spread out higgledy-piggledy throughout the park.
Id say just remove philhar or Maybe put it in epcot next to imagination where the pixar short film festival is currently? Thats a good place for it actually

Also tnis is unrelated but i have a idea for a replacement of mike and sully to the rescue. I call it tbe great disney ride. A movie ride revival thats centered on disney animation. The history of disney animation (also including toy story at the end but whatever)

The space doesn't look all that big for a Pooh's Hunny Hunt-caliber dark ride. And besides, I have been actively avoiding doing just another clone of Disneyland's Pinocchio ride, which I believe you seem to be advocating. Why just a dark ride anyway? I've actually tried to do other things than just that. I was partly inspired by this video from Ridestormin', which suggested a water thrill ride (go to 26:19):

Whoa, awesome awesome job. I love the idea of going back to more of a movie theming. Hollywood and DCA seem to be going away from that too much and are losing their history. Maybe you could have it where you go through a movie screen at the beginning, to symbolize you're entering the movie world.
Mhm! The ride would also use alot of screen projections of movie footage as well as animatronics. I also forhot to mention the steamboat willie scene located where mike and celia are in the car right now. Perhpas it coukd even use the blackbox dark ride concept, allowing it to be a mainly screen based attraction but in a way thtabwould make it easier to ride through movies. Or even say, a gentle motion simulator. Not as thrilling as startours, but utilizing motion to give an immersive experience that isnt bound by space limitations.

Another concept i have is a finding nemo spinning coaster that would replace pacific wharf, being the one big attraction of a new area themed to marine life institute that would bridge cars land and pixar pier. It would be a little tight of a squeeze, however that could be fixed with a possible rerouting of the lagoon and also the marine life institute theming being forgiving enough for a more exposed show building. Instead of being a direct clone of crush’s coaster, it would instead take a more original approach, utilizing a smaller version of the ride system on cosmic rewind. due to the smaller space, it would be a shorter family friendly launched coaster as you go on a ride on turtle themed cars. There would also be a small gift shop and a quick service restaurant.based on my google maps doodle it would be like 1,300 ft of track

This would actually make alot of sense! Considering marine life institute is based on monterery bay, it would also call back to the original mission of California adventure, that being a park about california.

Yes, but when I did consider doing a new version of the old dark ride, I was thinking of having it be trackless like Tokyo's Pooh ride. Now, I've thought of something more than just another dark ride, and it's way too big for the Philharmagic space.

LOL, yes I could tell that you got it somewhere else. I was just referencing your placement of ride scenes. You did an awesome job of it. It looks like the Great Movie Ride, but with animated movies.

I always thought that a GMR style ride would be great way to showcase different films. Ones that are great, but don't deserve their own ride.
Do you like how i decided to end it with toy story and save the more modern movies for a montage? I know toy story is slightly overused but the story of the first movie is underused. especially the iconic falling with style scene
