Has Disney officially confirmed this change? If so, when will it go into effect?

That person who mentioned getting small children out of bed and to the parks before noon was on the mark. We have the other problem, teenagers. My 17 yr old son, and 16 and 13 yr old neices are impossible to get out of bed before 8:30. Once everyone has showered, dressed, eaten and are ready to get moving, 10:30 is considered our "extra magic hour". We love e-ride night. A "Park after Dark" program would be great for us. There are few things prettier than the MK at night.

There is another thread in this forum with details. This system is taking effect for 2 weeks in May (when I go!) as a test.

I thoroughly enjoy this notion and would hope that it stays!

HOWEVER...

If Park After Dark were to replace Surprise Mornings as one of the official "Disney Resort Perks," how would this affect those of us who vacation during Easter and Christmas weeks when the parks are standard open till 11 or midnight? The hours are already extended, and everyone is welcomed. Because that is the case, Guests on property will not get any special benefits for time "alone" in the parks with other Resort Guests who paid the extra money, especially the extra-extra money to vacation during peak holiday times to stay at a Disney Resort.

Therefore, maybe they would extend the park hours till 2am (I did my one and only E-ride this late before) or have the Park close at 10 and Resort Guests only till midnight.

Something like this needs to be considered. And I'm sure it will.
The point is not that we would get extra time in the parks, but rather get extra time with a much reduced crowd load. And I don't know if this would be an option at night during those peak seasons that I and many others vacation as Disney Resort Guests.

Any thought son that?

I'd like to think Disney would extend the parks till 2am for us, being they want Guest satisfaction and to give more perks for onsite Guests, but I think they'll forget about holiday vacationers.

My guess would be that during the busy holiday time the parks would just open early in the morning. I really couldn't see them extending past Midnight on a nightly basis.

I also agree with EPCOT2004! I think there would be interest enough for both. I think it would be wonderful if they happened daily, but at different parks. For example, one day MK could open early and MGM could stay open late. The schedule could be arranged similar to the early entry schedule. This way, everyone could benefit (early risers and night owls). I, myself, prefer mornings and since teachers' hours are early anyway, my body is used to it.

Side note, this idea would be awesome for people with unlimited energy an no need for sleep. You could start early at one, and stay late at another.:D
