Trip Report The ONE with the Bowl that was not so Super šŸš½ 2/5-2/9, 2021*COMPLETED*

HA HA HA!!!
Hello everybody! I returned yesterday from a last minute long weekend to WDW.
How? Who? Why? You ask. Well my Magical friends, here is everything you want to know, and maybe some things, you donā€™t.

It all began a few weeks ago at work when my bff/boss suggested we go to Disney for his birthday. I took him last year and we had a great time. We looked at dates and flights and room rates and hemmed and hawed for a couple days. We decided we would go Presidentā€™s weekend. But my kids would be out of school and they would want to go. Then, texting with @Tuvalu she said ā€œyouā€™re going presidentā€™s weekend!?!?šŸ˜³šŸ˜³šŸ˜³ā€

Ok, she didnā€™t say it like that but that is how I heard it in my mind. I said to my friend, M, ā€œwhat the heck are we thinking? Letā€™s go the weekend before.ā€ His sister/business partner/my other boss gave her blessing (then promptly booked a whole week in Florida for herself at the end of the month) and we started looking at rooms.
Pop was cheap with the AP discount so I booked.

We picked out our flights, then added a day and picked out new flights. Friday came, my day off and two weeks before departure and we had decided on everything. All we had to do was book the flights, which were $69 each way. Then I looked again and the flights were down to $49 each way. I texted M, ā€œBOOK BOOK BOOK! This is not a drill!!!ā€

Then Saturday came and I canceled Pop and booked a studio at Saratoga Springs Resort using my DVC points. Bought Mā€™s park ticket and made park reservations and some ADRā€™s. I also filled out the Magical Express request form and ordered a couple t-shirts.

13 days to go and we were all set.

I was late to the party so I didnā€™t comment until now. As the mom of a son in his mid twenties I thoroughly related to your drinking around the world experience as well as the lost wallet! We are always in search of missing wallets šŸ¤¦šŸ½ā€ā™€ļø! As always Your TR was a delight. Thanks for sharing your trip with us.

Knock on wood (my head :D), but I have yet to lose a wallet.
However, I did lose a set of keys either before or after an away soccer game back in high school.
I had a spare car key...in the glove box of my locked car in our school parking lot...!!!!! :hilarious::facepalm::hilarious:
Called a locksmith to come out the next Saturday morninā€™, and the poor olā€™ dude inadvertently shattered my drivers side window in the process...but, I was able to retrieve my spare key...!!!!! šŸ¤£
Dude didnā€™t charge for the ā€œserviceā€ :D, and my pop and myself found a replacement window at a local salvage yard, and installed it ourselves.
Ever since then, I have spare keys for everything ā€œhiddenā€, or otherwise, everywhere...no spare wallets, though...!!!! :hilarious::cool::hilarious:

I do. I must have seen them in reruns because I was way too young to watch them, or anything for that matter. I do remember, ā€œdonā€™t touch me, you dont know me that well.ā€ That became my Momā€™s favorite saying. (My poor DadšŸ˜‚)
HahahahašŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚

:hilarious:
I remember watchinā€™ all those ā€œvariety showsā€ back in the day...Flip Wilson, Carol Burnett, Sonny & Cher, Donny & Marie, etc., even the Dean Martin Roasts...good times...!!!!! šŸ¤£

I was very late to the party on this TR in following up with all your posts but it was so worth the wait!!! You always know how to entertain your loyal readers DarStarr! I'm glad that you felt better fairly quickly after the food poisoning incident! Loved that SS gave you the free room for X and his friends which was the pixie dust that was so needed after the rough start. šŸ˜‰ Your son is so lucky to have such a cool man who drinks around the "World" with him and his friends! I love how you and M just roll with the punches when you travel together. Even being a picky eater, he certainly enjoyed all the sweet offerings on this trip! Scoring the BG 16 for ROTR must have been so exciting after missing out at the beginning of the trip! As I have said many times after reading your TR's, thank you so much for sharing your incredibly fun adventures with us!!! Can't wait for the next one.
thank you so much GIF
Better late than never!!!
Thank you very much for reading and commenting!!

I am going to be the odd one out here, but he irks me. I donā€™t think it is actually him, I thought he was cute before Full House and getting together with B. He had the black hair, the mullet, the eyes and every girl always swooned and said you look just like Uncle Jesse. Maybe it was the green eyed monster that did it. šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚Now that he is gray everyone says he looks like George Clooney. I totally donā€™t agree with that one other than the gray. šŸ˜‘
And for me, the early mullet days were not appealing at all.

Thanks for another great TR--and nice job getting some cool pics with your new phone!
Glad to see that despite an awful start, you and M rallied and made it another memorable trip.

I got a laugh out of how picky M was for so many every meal: "what's this? what's this??"

I imagined that very early on in the trip you had adopted a daily affirmation to cope that might have wound up sounding something like:

Darstarr:

M is my bff and my boss and I'm grateful for his friendship and for my job.

It looks like he is looking at me. And yes, he is very lucky you were not there.
Also, Beach Boysā¤ļø
season 3 family GIF by NETFLIX

We actually got to meet, and chat with for a bit, 2 of the original Beach Boys, Mike Love and Bruce Johnston, back in 2010.
An old HS buddy of mine owns a watercraft rental place down on Lake Travis here. He was also the visible partner for the only US-based Carlosā€™N Charlieā€™s, at the time (unfortunately, they had to close it permanently in 2013 because of the severe drought, but, fortunately, the watercraft rental place still somehow survived), next to the watercraft rental place. He used to host summer concerts there, and The Beach Boys was one of a few we worked for him (DWifey and our 3 kiddos tickets, and myself security) that summer. They were cool, and it was definitely memorable...!!! :)
Not my pic, but taken from the outdoor stage...

I thought maybe he had some Rhodesian Ridgeback in him...a friend of mine has a massive beast of a dog that they think is Rhodesian Ridgeback and she looks similar.
I thought so at first so I had his DNA tested, for fun. When I read the fine print on the test Rhodesian Ridgeback is not one of the breeds it tested for. So he may bešŸ¤·ā€ā™€ļø
