So, when its time for you to return for your turn at fastpass or priority seating, would a peice of paper be printed out from Mickey's, well, uh, his, um, his mouse behind?????

that would be preferable to coming out the other side :dazzle:

This system doesn't only work through a cell phone. Around line 148 of the invention description, it says that people could pre-reserve fastpasses from their home computer or a Disney kiosk. It also talks about using printed fastpasses, as well having hotel guests order them from their in-room TV's. This eliminates the problem of people not having a cell phone or PDA.

Personally, I think it looks really cool.

Well I for one am impressed that you made it through to line 148. Thanks for reading that far and sharing the info with those of us whose brains shut off after just a few lines :hammer:

Even though it IS 2004, there are still people who don't have a cell phone.
*raises hand*

I don't have a cell phone. Did for a couple years a few years back. Got rid of it though and never looked back. Happily without one and zero plans to get one.

I'd have to say that the cell phone idea is very clever.....but then again, this could lead to a party recieving multiple FPs (if two or more people in a party have a cell phone with them).

I don't know why Disney doesn't do the whole unlimited Fast Pass for hotel guests, like Universal does with its Express pass....since Disney is much bigger...base it on resort area....it gives people another incentive for staying at a Disney resort and that equals extra $$...

Also, does Fast Pass really need to be enhanced? Its relatively young, no?

You could hack into the wireless system with a laptop!! All you would need is the server address and the port numbers they use for sending/receiving communication. You'd also have to be an experienced hacker!
That is possible but highly doubtful.
*Stands up*
I need a cell phone

Because Disney has more hotel guests per park than Universal does.

Exactly, and even beyond that, many people who DO have cells at WDW don't have local service - they are roaming. I always carry my phone at WDW, but it's always off unless I'm using it so I don't have to take unexpected calls and pay extra.

I don't think the text message thing was meant to replace the FP system, but more a Disney implementation of localized messaging services. It's used a lot in Japan and parts of Europe - you walk past a record store, and an add featuring their sale special, or even a special offer code, beeps on your phone. It raises privacy concerns (i.e., it "knows" you are walking by, therefore where you are), but I'd really like it at WDW. Might even make me keep my phone on - or at least get decent nationwide service. :)
