The New Studios attractions

Having just viewed the new blurb on the official site I am amazed at the lengths Disney will go to to ensure that the Studios remain crap.

The ToT is a great ride and despite it is cut n paste is a good addition. The other attractions sound great then you see the video and are left thinking ........ I expect coasters to be coasters, not Hester N Chester with scenes, and as for the T cup ride sorry Cars attraction holly bottom burp Batman, its the sort of ride we get in town on Market days.

I think theres more chance of visiting Disneyland than going back to the shambles of Disneys French Folly, it would probably be cheaper too.

I`ll let you know in 3 weeks about Crush's Coaster - though videos and images seem to show a quite good dark ride-into-a-coaster. Yes, Cars is a spinner for the kids (something to counter complaints Aladdin was the only kiddy attraction in the park) and Stitch is a D-Ticket, but these are seen to compliment the ToT to flesh out the park a bit before the next phase. There`s still the 2 expansion plots within the berm, and the oh-so-big second plot to break ground on.

Until the funding issues are fully resolved I doubt we`ll see the second plot broken in, more likely clones on the two other plots to keep the numbers up until the real expansion begins. As it is, the Studios could now almost stretch to a full day in peak season. I`m still hearing Soarin' and Philharmagic for the 2 plots. BTW.

Interesting tid bit; the resort was offered a Splash Mountain hybrid flume, or the 3-attraction Studios package. They chose the later, for obvious reasons, but I`m also hearing Splash is still the main contender for 2010-11 in the main park, followed by more Studios work - the plan being by then the demand should be there to really go to town with a real Sunset Blvd. complete with weenie. The big question is the WDW Sunset Weenie is already open at the top of the street, so what will be the big new draw? Mutterings point to a 3 letter word beginning with E and ending in V, with a M in the middle....

Thing is with exchange rates and the rip of prices at DLP Its harder to justify settling for second best. The studios are such a mess that it really does detract from the main park. Which also needs two major rides IMHO.

With the Crush coaster perhaps my vision, influenced by the Imagineers description was more of a Mummy than a poor man Atlantis.

Exchange rate.... tell me about it. Still got to get some Euros. How low can it go?? :( At least the dollar will be better for July :)

I agree, and sadly always will, compared to what`s next door WDSP will always be second rate. Crush seems to be what it is, and for a change dosn`t pretend otherwise; a good D+ Ticket from an off the shelf design, modified, extended, stuck in a shed with lots of visual effects. A good filler to compliment the new E Ticket, much like the CoP was to SM in Orlando in `75.

Slightly OT, but I still wonder what next-door would be like had they built Mermaid, Splash, and the Indy Temple Jeep coaster/EMV package. Even with SM as built it could have made Disneyland Parc the best park in the world bar none. It`s nearly there, theming, scale and technology-wise. A few more solid, original E Tickets and it`d be there. Damn the recession. And Eisners hotels.

Problem I find is that the place seems to go for a sleepy nap time for a few years... offer a ray of hope with something like tot then goes back for sleepy nun night for another couple of years. For a new park - it is still not offering good value.

The hotels (most of) are stunning, and offer amazing value for not *that much* more than your average resort hotel.

But studios just looks to me like - LOOK AT WHAT WE HAVE AT OTHER PARKS! it has no identifying features - that make you think WOA i want to come back.

What they did to space mountain is a complete barstardisation of it's original intent. With the land blatantly themed on european science fiction, why not keep the ride in the same theming but improve the content but make it still relevant.

I do find I can stay longer in dlrp than the magic kingdom... probably its because I hold a soft spot for people pushing in :)
