I'd definately be interested in seeing if he comes out earlier then the "official" scheduled release and how he works out - especially versus 1.0

I'm sad you can't rent the PM anymore. I don't want to spend $60 on something and not like it. I wish I could try it out frist to see if I like it or not.

O well, i've heard from serveral people that it was annoying to carry PM around.

The merch location i work in has the new pal mickey on the stock shelves with signs reading DO NOT DISPLAY UNTIL APRIL 20th!!! so there you go, thats about as official as its gonna get.

*HAPPY DANCE* :sohappy: :sohappy: I am coming down on April 24th - 29th. If he's available before than he will definitely be finding a new home.
I have the old one, but the geek in me will not let me pass up buying the new 2.0 version.

Well it sounds like Pal Mickey is a waste of money if he doesn't get updates about new rides. I am disappointed and will not be buying the new one. What good is Pal Mickey if he is outdated everytime a new ride opens. There must be some way to update him.

I am very disappointed to hear that you can't rent PM any more. That seems foolish on the part of Disney, as another poster already explained. Oh well, I won't be purchasing one.

Hmmmm I wonder if new 50th celebration Pal Mickey is triggered to tell the Old Pal Mickey to scram, so that park guests will have to buy the new version. :)

Although I completely believe the explanations, being a software person myself, I think the confusing thing is that PM was marketed in a way that made it "appear" as though he would be updated with new information when you visited the park in the future. Even down to cast members stating it at the checkout. Some would call that good marketing, but its really false advertisement.

Even if he doesn't "update", he's still a lot of fun to have. If anyone who owns the first version buys a second one, please post if the volume truly is louder. That was my only real problem with him. You have to hold him to your ear to hear what he is saying when in the parks.

I never had a problem with his volume but Love thought he was too quite. It's hard because of the background noise. What would be good is if he had an adjustable volume so when you play with him in the car or something, he's not as loud.

I should be heading out there in about a month for my birthday and plan to get the new version. I love my 1.0 and enjoyed him for the last year but I also want to see the new updates and changes. I'm sure someone will get one sooner, but I'll be happy to share any info when I get mine.
