while their at it, let's bring back fraggle rock :)

That one would be up to The Jim Henson Company, since they still own it. It was not part of Disney's acquisition.

The only Henson franchises Disney bought were the "classic Muppets" (Kermit, Piggy, Fozzie, Gonzo, etc.) and "Bear in the Big Blue House".

Very interesting.

These deals are always so funny (especially the Marvel purchase) but I guess there's obviously a lot of money involved in all of these properties so it get's very particular. I thought it was funny a little while back when Disney sold the Power Rangers, not to some random company, but back to the original owners. The best ever still has to be the reaquisition of Oswald like 80 years later.

Anyway, I would love a general resurfacing and deeper appreciation of Jim Henson's characters, he was a genious. I'm really excited about this Muppets movie!

The last several times I've experienced MuppetVision it's been in terrible shape! The Penguins haven't gone all the way down in Months, The curtain around Statler and Waldorf was broken so they were just awkwardly static during pre and post show. One of the fireworks was not functional. Chef was in B-Mode, and the projections on either side of the theater were bouncing and fuzzy.

Now I'm not a snob, I fully understand effects turning on and off, I understand occasional inconsistency with an operation as large as Walt Disney World, and Quite frankly a lot of times I simply brush things off and they are fixed by my next experience...that has not been the case with Muppetvision, it has been in rough shape for months now.

So all I want is for everything to be fixed in preparation for the new film.

(Of Course I wouldn't say no to a restaurant by the Swedish Chef, a What-Not workshop, or a living character initiative show...)

The whole Henson Company/Disney ownership seemed very strange. It's complicated a few things and certainly made licensing tricky for some of the older Muppet specials (which I just love!).

It's good to see that Jason Segel will be working with puppets, once again. Loved his Dracula musical.

As far as the new Muppet movie goes, I have a lot of faith in Jason Segel who was the one who went to Disney with the script. If you've ever seen Forgetting Sarah Marshall, there was a clip of Jason Segel playing the Muppet's theme song on the piano. In the commentary he stated that he loved the Muppets growing up and wanted to throw that nod into the movie. Personally, I think Jason Segel is perfect for this because he has a passion for the project he's working on unlike someone like Micheal Bay who doesn't bother to research anything about the movie he's making and just makes it a half Victoria Secrets commercial and half frat boy humor with random explosions thrown in. Between Segel working on the Muppets and Guillermo del Toro working on the new HM movie, I have high hopes for both films:sohappy:

I want to see The Muppets revived into something for all ages. And have Kermit get the same M&G lines that Buzz Lightyear gets (if there's a Kermit M&G in the future )

Anyone remember the muppet show over by the current Pizza planet back in "the day"?

I loved the previews; both the teaser and the full trailer. When I saw the teaser 5 or 6 months ago (I can't remember what it was attached to) the appearance of Kermit was a total surprise and the audience really ate it up. Hoops and Yells of excitement from all. I think having Jason Segel attached to it was a stroke of genius.

So I think that it's got the potential to break out the muppets into mainstreet america again. I really hope it does well. I miss those guys. (And pigs, and rats and bears and whatever Gonzo is)

Yeah after Forgetting Sarah Marshall, Segal has my full confidence. Dracula's Lament and Inside of You showed he can create music that can be both hilarious and in Inside of You's case seem like something that could actually be considered a serious song. The whole puppet Dracula musical seemed like an Audition to prove he could make a Muppet movie.

The Jim Henson people might actually be happy with that as they asked Disney to remove Jim Henson's name from the attraction as to why the balloon got repainted recently.

Is this true? This is the first I've heard anything like that. I'm not completely surprised, as the Jim Henson Company continues to exist and maybe they wouldn't want Disney's work with the Muppets confused with theirs?

I really wouldnt mind that whatnot workshop cuz theres one in new york but its not popular at alll and disney would be able to make the themeing amazing!!!

The Muppet Movie Ride idea should be brought back.

I dont want Muppet Vision 3D to change, considering it was Jim Henson's last film made for the Muppets.

Unfortunately Kermit hasn't sounded right for years. I believe after Jim Henson died, his son took over voicing Kermit for a while and sounded very similar to the voice we were used to. Then someone else took over and he's had this high pitched voice that just sounds odd. He almost sounds like Big Bird.

There are some very talented mimics out there. I say hire one of them to do the 'original' Kermit voice instead of whoever this other person has been.

If you watch an old Muppet Show or one of the first 2 muppet movies (The Muppet Movie, or Great Muppet Caper) , and then something recent (Was Muppet Wizard of Oz the last recent movie?) , you will hear the difference.

For anyone who is curious about the voice changes that Muppets have experienced over the years, there's a YouTube channel devoted to it with soundbites of each Muppet voice actor. Type in 'Muppet Voice Comparisons' to have a look.
