The monorail smell?

"Marijuana Scent?"

My bro is sitting next to me at the time of this posting and he shared a pretty interesting story with me:

This past weekend, him and his g/f went to Disney and as they were getting on the monorail coming back from Epcot, he and his g/f got pretty nauseous from the marijuana smell in the car. He thinks that a few "burnouts" got together and thought it'd be cool to light up a joint on disney grounds.

*sigh*

But, as far as the odor goes -- its a sanitizing agent they use to wipe down the interior (at least that's one of the monorail peeps said) ;)

My guess is that the smell is from the smelly, sweaty diaper covered with carpet glue and sanitizer on the butt of an animal that is a cross between an elephant and a rhinoceros?!?!

I love the smell of monorail in the morning, it......smells.....like......Victory. It just wouldn't be the monorail with out the funk, it's part of its charm.

The monorails didn't have this smell 10 years ago.

It smells like manure-based fertilizer or downwind from the zoo. If it's a cleaner/sanitizer they must have searched far and wide to find one that smells this bad.

I asked the same question on a thread 6 mos ago and I don't think anyone really knew for sure. Carpet glue wasn't mentioned at that time, but again I've never smelled carpet glue like that.

The smell has been there for years now. I wish they'd get rid of it. :hurl:

Nite Obsrvr is correct... it's the carpet glue that they used when installing the new carpets.

However, it doesnt help that there are some guests that leave certain scents behind by doing some unmentionable things. *sigh*

I wondered why the urinal stall was shaking side to side so much after that long dinner at the Biergarten!

Yeah, the odor becomes quite intense after the dinner rush at the parks (between 7pm and 9pm). Maybe it has something to do with those "unmentionable things"

:(

Ahemm... you been sneaking into the guys' bathroom again?

If you ride them in the morning, they aren't that bad... it's the night that's horrible! :hurl:

The smell has been there for years. It hasn't faded. Wouldn't carpet glue scent fade? Or do they keep replacing the carpets?

Did Disney actually SEARCH for a glue that smells like elephant manure or were they unlucky enough to be the only place in the world that happened to use such glue?

Why carpet? Just put down a rubber floor if that's the problem.

It seems just like the circus..I always think of elephants. I thought it would just smell like that in the summer but I just returned and it smells like that in the winter too!!!

But it's okay, it's still fast transportation from the MK resorts. It's just part of the experience.

Heh, elephants is exactly what I thought too! The last time I was on I had someone constantly sneezing next to me in a pacekd train, and the next day I had a horrid cold.

I REALLY like the monorail, but I think the smell and the people are a *little* too much. :D:D:D:D

You would think it would fade... *shrug* Awhile ago someone explained it in detail for me, but I forget that explanation. As for not using carpet... it's not just the flooring that is carpeted... much of the walls are carpeted as well.
