He said he doesn't necessarily think Mission: Space should be shut down, but would like to see a better description of what it entails given to guests.

Borne said. "This thing, they gotta close it down."

MS closed down?

 I agree with Iakona. I have high blood pressure myself. I have read the warnings and chose NOT to go on MS. I, however, see no need for them to close it down cause of someone else not being responsible for themself. I think because its Disney, a big name, the press jump all over everything they can find. It will die down soon, probably and on to others misfortunes. sure hope so. I love Disney World. :sohappy:

Didn't some guy die on Peter Pan because he got caught on the belt and dragged under the ship?

He didn't die. He sustained some minor scrapes and bruises.

In the thread started by Speck76 about M:S generating the most guest complaints there is a chart showing all the illnesses/deaths related to WDW parks.

One person died after riding PotC. One died after riding UoE. Those are hardly strenuous rides and I don't remember the news media jumping on those stories.

People die. With the number of people that go to WDW every year, odds are that some people's time will come while they are there. It's not Disney's fault.

The Sun Chronicle is a local newspaper serving two towns in southern Massachusetts (Attleboro and North Attleboro). It hardly has a huge readership or following. I hardly think this story is going to affect M:S's ridership. I don't think too many "regular" WDW visitors are combing the Internet for news stories regarding Mission:Space. Just the hard core nuts like us. :animwink:

I was just there yesterday (Friday April 14) and decided to ride this again and look at the warnings. On the way into the preshow, I couldn't believe, they were actually wheeling some guy in who looked like he was 75-80 years old, very frail, and could barely move- I kept thinking, "oh boy, we've got another death waiting to happen here". People aren't heeding the warnings I don't think, lol. In Disney's defense, they do show a good video of what the ride is, in at least two places. They show a video of the capsule and how it closes up on you, and then show the capsule as being part of a centrifuge and shows it spinning. They show this both at the entrance across from the fastpass machines, and then again during part of the preshow. And then of course all the warnings about "enclosed dark spaces" and "spinning". I don't really know what else Disney could do to warn people. They really make it clear that it's an intense ride before you get on.

Yea! They should realy tell you :
"THis ride is very much like the gravitron you see at your local amusement parks, just incas you couldn't understand the previous signs, if you are unable to enjoy that ride then maybe your not ok to ride this one."

and at the same time they should put a sign infront of ToT:
"THis ride is very much like your typical elevator with up and down motions faster than normal."

Peter Pan's FLight:
THis ride is like your typical flying ships with some twists and turns past stars and a worldly crossing. If you can't handle rides like this don't ride this one."

IASW:
THis ride is like babysitting four children who look alike and sing the song that never ends. If you feel as though you would want to kill those kids then don't ride this attraction.

Spacemountain:
THis ride is like a roller coaster through space. If you don't enjoy roller coasters through space then don't ride this ride.

ROckin ROllercoaster:
THis ride is like riding in a super stretch limo at top speed and upsidedown in LA with aerosmith turned all the way up. If you do not enjoy a Limo ride through LA upside down then this atraction isn't for you.

Infront of the entire DIsney Resort:
THis Resort is much like your favorite theme parks with extra magic and different consepts. If you prefer a no thrill I know how it works feel then turn around and go to six flags. We don't want you.

So I got a great idea we can take the old wonders of life building and make it a health screening center type of thing for mission space and they can give 10 min physicals for people that want to ride mission space so we dont keep killing people. or how about we make two versions of mission space we have a toned down theater side and a extreme normal what it is side and people can take there pick.

 ime sure disney could up with a good story behind the non extreme bit, something like it is a giro stabalised part of the X-2 so then you cant feel the g forces of lift off. even better make a basic simulator similar to that on star tours and put a version of the space race game in that and make an interactive simulator alternative to the main attraction. and they could theme the old body wars building to look like the medical facility of ISTC and have people in white outfits examine every1 who chooses to go on the gentil part of M:S.
