why did they give disney the rights to the Twilight Zone? Did disney just fork up a lot of cash?

At the time, Disney was seriously thinking about buying CBS. The ride was obviously something of synergy if the company went on with the offer. I'm kind of hazy figuring out why they didn't merge with CBS, but we all know where the company eventually merged with in 1995.

Wait, so does that mean that if MGM dropped out, they'd have to rehab TOT and loose the twilight zone? Or would disney just have to fork up a big sum of money?

Neither..once the ride is built (since it has no sponsor to begin with) the concept stays the same. The only tihng that would change the theme would be a sponsor change...and even then its never a BIG change...

A ToT without the Twilight Zone's theme would be another ride. I enjoy the falls, but also the rest of the scary ride which is really excellently done and gives a plot to the falls. By the way, a ToT cast member mentioned that the attraction was designed to scare the people so when the falls come, people not only feel a thrilling sensation, but also are frightened, that really makes sense.

True. It was confirmed from the Eisner himself in the Annual Report.

I would personally prefer both DCA and Paris to develop a new unique attraction, and leave ToT to be unique to WDW.

I think alsmost every theme park on the planet has ridden ToT at WDW, and I would like to see the money spent on an entirely new major Eride attraction.

The Tower is so much better than MaliBOOMer, though...perhaps they could rethink a drop tower attraction...Disney Studios Paris is going to be in dire need of new attractions after it opens--there are so few, so I would think an attraction that didn't require any research to build would be better as it could be built in like...a year.
