The Memorial Day Week 2007 Trip Report

It has been a while since our last trip to WDW. Our very last trip was in Sept. 2006, which I had reported in the Pin Event trip report. And this same time last year, we were about to start on what I called our Mini Grand Tour, where we started our vacation at Disneyland, and then flew to WDW to finish the rest.

Tomorrow, we will start on our trip to WDW. We will be heading to Fredricksburg, VA first, though, to spend the weekend. We will be flying in to Orlando on Monday, Memorial Day (I fully expect the airports to be totally nuts).

We have several things planned, and many, many pins to buy. The whole trip will culminate in the "Red Shirt" day on Saturday, followed by a private party at Disney-MGM Studios that evening, headlined by Kathy Griffin!

I'll post my report as we go along after we get to WDW, including pictures. My next transmission will be from the Happiest Place on Earth. See ya then!

This is our last day at the Happiest Place on Earth. We spent it at Epcot. But before that, the rain that was on and off throughout the day before is gone. This is the view on the balcony right outside our room. I can see clearly now the rain is gone.... it's gonna be a bright, bright, sun shiny day! :)

We checked our luggage with the bell hop and then headed straight to Epcot. They were in the final weekend of the Flower and Garden Fesitval.

We headed headed off to see Figment, even though it isn't something I enjoy.

We had lunch at Le Cellier. I already reported my dining experience there, so I won't go into it here.

But while we were waiting for our table, a few cast members there sang O' Canada to us. That was a nice diversion.

We went to Soarin' after lunch with our fast pass. The regular standby queue line is still under construction, so you don't get to see those big lighted pictures and the trivia video screen.

After that, we barely had a few minutes left to take advantage of the Disney Visa Rewards Character Meet 'N Greet. Mickey and Pluto were there and we took lots of pictures with them.

Unfortunately, it was time to leave for the airport. We will miss it, but look forward to our next trip in early Sept. for the Pin event.

One of the things that I wish I had more of are pictures of us while on various rides. Oh, one of course can buy those ride photo pictures after one gets off the ride, but you don't get an electronic copy of it (except on Test Track if you buy the CD rom), you can't share it with others, and have to pay almost $20 for it.

On this last trip, one of the person in our party decided to stay behind and not ride several of the rides, namely Everest and Splash Mountain. So we all gave him the task of getting our pictures on these rides. I'm waiting for my pictures on Everest, since he used his camera, but luckily, the pictures on Splash was taken using my camera. So these are the pictures of yours truly on one of his most favorite rides at The Magic Kingdom.

I never miss the opportunity to wave at the camera taking the picture. Somehow, its a game that I like to play, to either wave or look directly at the camera whenever I can. On rides like this, it is rather easy since you can actually spot where the camera is, but on rides like Dinosaur, it's difficult. Still, I've done it quite accurately a few times. It's fun! :)

This was what I learned to draw during this last trip. For some odd reason, I always get to draw Mickey on previous visits to the Animation studio (see my previous trip report for a picture of that). This time, we got to draw Mickey again, but in PROFILE. So that is a bit different. I may have to practice on this a few times before I can draw it off the top of my head (there are more "guide lines" that needs to be drawn for this Mickey head and the one straight on).

Thank you. Glad you like the video.

We certainly had a lot of fun on this trip. Wish we were selected to get the YOMD Mickey Ears hat, but oh well.

Our next trip will be in early Sept. for the big pin event at Epcot, and then we're going back at the end of Sept. into Oct. so that we can be there when Epcot turns 25, with or without Disney's participation. So expect more trip reports from those.

:)
