the Mears name

I had a wild thought, as I often do, about the name Mears Transportation.

MEARS
M-EARS
Mouse-EARS

Was this intentional or is it the last name of the founder or something? I don't know why I have to know, I just do.

Ummm... I'm guessing it's the founder's last name, but I could be wrong.
