the MANY problems with Genie+ and paid FastPass (or whatever they are calling it)

1. Could be worse, and no one is forcing you to pay
2. That was expected
3. Not true
4. You are not required to wake up at 7AM. If you were going for a boarding group you would have to anyways tho.
5. FastPass+ has the same type of thing with tiers but go on.
6. No need to be glued to your phone all day but if you want go for it.
7. Even without a park pass some planning is required. This is less advance planning. You did more with FastPass+
8. You don't need to but you can. It used to be 180 days...
9. This should be a good thing. People can now stay off site and get the same perks and spend less money. Giving you more money for Genie+ ;)
Well true, you are free to spend big bucks on a WDW vacation and go on NO attractions.

Ok, ok, you may be able to get on a standby line for Imagination..

Oh wait, that’s exactly what Disney wants “guests” to do; pay a lot to stay on site, pay a lot to get into a park, pay a lot to eat in the park, pay a lot for souvenirs and skip the lines and attractions completely!

This leaves more time to spend money on food, snacks and souvenirs! YaY!

Why would there need to be a cap at all? They had enough FastPass capacity where everyone got it, why wouldn't they sell Genie+ to anyone who wants it?
Because you can get a lot more FPs with this system in a park day (if you use it correctly) than the old one. They could artificially limit you with the old system because of the rules, tiers, etc to how many you could possibly get. It wasn't unreasonable or difficult to use a MaxPass 10-12 times in a single DLR day. You would be working hard to do half that at WDW.

Because of that, its certainly possible for them to push through all FPs (or more realistically, all the FPs that people care about) in less than a full day. Again, the cap will probably never get hit, but one is planned to exist just as it did at DLR.

1) Lets start with the obvious......$15 pp per day.....that stinks bad
2) Not having ALL rides in Genie+.......So i have to pay more for the best rides? Yes!!!
3) Rope Drop or die........If you are an afternoon/evening park goer, Genie+ will be completely irrelevant due to the lack or options at those later times
4) 7am? Really? Every day? Really?
5) Not enough rides........AK and Epcot will only have 4 rides in Genie+.....even if you book one early, what are the chances there's nothing left for your second one (or worse, the only option is Navi or Kali)
6) Glued to my phone all day? Exact opposite of what I'm trying to do w my 3 teenagers, especially on vacation
7) Still need Park Pass so doesn't "FREE" guests from planning
8) Still need to book dining 60 days out (see 7)
9) No incentive to stay onsite any longer

*i did post this on a different forum but wanted to post here also
just a quick question. #3 if you are a afternoon/evening park goer with the free fast pass, that was the same complaint that all the options were gone. so basically Disney has always been rough for those who like to sleep in.

lol I remember people here telling me "you don't go to disney to sleep in".

Sorry that one is not the fault of genie+

I think I've lost sight of the point of these threads....

Ummmm. FP+ allowed you to choose what time you got your fast pass. I could go to AK in the morning and then MK at night and book. My 3 FPs for 5pm,6pm,7pm.

you cannot do that with genie +.

So what to do? If you wish to buy this - do so. We will not.

Instead, DW & I are going standby only, in an effort to stretch those standby lines out 3 city blocks. Consider Small World lines out to the carousel. Pirates' snaking down to the Jungle Cruise :).

The basic problem is logistics. In most cases, 50% of the standby line spaces were converted over to free FP. Now? That same 50% is being turned over to what will likely be a 15%-20% crowd. That's fine - if WDW wishes to re engineer all the FP lanes :).

So let's just mob the standby areas :). Clog 'em like a 1927 house toilet :). Then allow Disney to decide if this is a good solution :).

look what your wrote. you could go to ak IN THE MORNING. you had to use the 3 early fast before getting the pm ones and with the original fp system the complaint was by the time the pm people got there t he fp's for the major rides were long gone

We would never pay for a genie+ in animal kingdom or Epcot. I bet you would never get more than 1 headliner and if you were able to, that likely means it’s not busy enough and liens are short so you won’t need to pay for it.

Ummmmm no. When I booked FP+ at 60 days I just booked 5, 6 and 7pm. And I slept in until noon.

why is this so hard to understand?

I could book FP+ for whatever time I wanted. You CANNOT do that with Genie and thus there will be none available in the afternoons b they get taken by the people starting at 7am

do people not get that?

How so? If I made my initial FPs for 9a, 10a, and 11a, wouldn't that work functionally the same as this?
Yes and no. You would have 3 there, but your chances of getting many more than that are much lower under the old system. With MaxPass, you could get 3 within the first two hours of a day. Like I said, getting 10 MaxPasses in one day wasn't difficult.

Terrible way to spend your day, but whatever. Have fun going at literally the worst times of the day. It seems your entire dislike of this system stems from your awful park-going habit of not getting there before the afternoon.

Correct.

Incorrect. Because as you said, you can't schedule times as much, so you can't take the ones later in the day. You're also making an assumption that they will 'sell out', which you (or me, or Disney) don't know either way for sure.

do people not get that?
You don't.

This.

Under FP+, a bunch of FP+ slots were already booked well into the afternoon and evening weeks before the park opened. You could book all your FP+ after 6 PM if you wanted. Yes, they held some back to release during the day, but there was less availability overall due to so many being prebooked (along with the fact numerous users didn't know they could look for more after using their original 3).

That won't be the case with this system; everyone using it will know they can continue to book additional LL times and none will be taken out of service via advanced bookings.

So will people be extra angry when folks who can "game" the system like how folks got there 4th+ fp figure out a way to maximize Genie+ rides? I kinda hope so.. Also the folks who wont use a smartphone.. just more rides for me :D

You cant get 10 in AK or Epcot....They only have 4 rides available for Genie+

you cant get 10 if you combined the 2 parks

This is a problem and why they will "sell out"

I would like to ask Jeff what he does want. He clearly doesn’t like advance planning and he clearly doesn’t like paying for things so what exactly do you want?
If Genie+ was free, I would then say it needs to offer an option so i dont have to get up at 7am to book my rides.......

We dont wake up early on vacation (a little hint, most people dont) we stay up late and go to the park with the latest closing time and stay up until 1am

Why not offer to book at 8pm the previous night?

Also, why not allow to pick return time in case im at the water park during the day and parks at night?
