The Magic, The Memories, & You! is a Big Disappointment

Don't Shoot me..... :lookaroun:

But i quite like the "tourist photo's", they make me feel all warm and fuzzy inside (they 2 little princess's playing together, awwwwww), it think its the voyeurist (not a real word(i know)) in me that enjoys experiencing others lives...... sure isn't that why we all love trip reports so much, and spend hours looking through others photos online.....

I agree I actually like seeing the pictures. But I'm the type of person who reads most of the TR on here and also goes on google and watches the videos of people surprising there kids and such.

While I don't agree with their methods, I agree with some of the sentiment others have expressed in this thread.

It's not so much that the OP is wrong--these are subjective issues, so he can't be 'wrong', per se.

It's the way he presents his opinions: rather than offering his critique in the same threads where others have, he starts his own thread. Then he continues to, going only off of a YouTube video, proclaim this to be one of the "worst" things Disney has done, further stating that anyone could do this with a rudimentary piece of software (this actually isn't subjective; it's objective, and it's wrong), and that he has seen better shows on his local boardwalk.

He created a superfluous thread laden with extreme exaggerations and rushed to judge something without having seen it in person. I realize everyone is entitled to their own opinions, but this type of snap judgment about anything and everything Disney does is endemic around here, and I can completely understand how it's a little off-putting to new users.

Maybe it's just me, but I guess I have a lot more tolerance for posts that criticize or critique in a thoughtful/persuasive/logical/etc. manner.

I throughly enjoyed the video (I'll see it in person in a little over a week!):sohappy:. The vacation photos were OK but the overall show was beautiful. I'm assuming that we'll see some variation of this for many years to come (hopefully, with no vacation photos :)).

I'm still hoping that a new nighttime show involving the projections comes out of this. Still would be cool to have a show where evil steals the castle and with a little touch of magic you watch before your eyes as the castle rebuilds/reforms as fireworks shoot off to finish off the the animation. :lookaroun

While I could do without the people's pictures on the castle (The chance of seeing your own picture on the castle would be like hitting the lottery), the tech is fantastic and I can't wait to see it used to greater effect in the future. It truly expands the canvas they can use with future fireworks shows.

Yes, it is ok for someone to have the opinion that they personally didnt enjoy something. Its the assumption that everyone that does enjoy it is totally crazy because something is such an "awful" product. The majority of people will like "Magic, Memories and You" because it is very well done and presents the intended goal in a beautiful way. There are just a few people that feel like pushing buttons at times..some people not so subtle..and others are very subtle but are doing the same thing.

I still think the OP was trolling. Theres no way this show could be a "big disappointment" when literally NO ONE was expecting anything good out of it.

I guess Waffle House must have some pretty darn awesome presentations now! I havent been in one in a looongg time but if it is better than this then..WOW! Honestly, dislike the presentation..thats ok but to say its "awful" that's just an effort to stir the pot. For the message presented with the campaign, I think this presentation is a home run. You are entitled to your opinion, but that's all it is.

I wasn't taking about the new show, but rather the OP......

I also don't think its fair to judge this based on a video. I've heard from a few people who saw it in person who said the technology is amazing in person, much more amazing than it shows on video.

I was expecting somewhat of a let down from this. Projecting other people's amatuer pictures on the castle just didn't sound appealing to me. And I usually don't care for the cheesy stuff (I avoid the parades like the plague). However, I watched the video and it looks pretty awesome. I could still do without other people's photos, but it was much more tastefully done than I was expecting. The potential future use of this technology is huge! I'm definitely excited to see this in person this summer.
