The new show will premiere tonight at it's a small world, as part of the "Let The Memories Begin" campaign. The Disney Parks Blog shared this preview of the show:

The nightly show combines guest photos from that day in Disneyland park with photos and videos taken from Disney’s “Let the Memories Begin” online hub. Classic Disney music is woven into the new “Let the Memories Begin” theme song, creating a musical and visual journey that traces the family vacation experience from surprise announcements through arrival and fun at the Disneyland Resort.
The show finale features a burst of fireworks over “it’s a small world.”

That’s what it looks like. It’s harder to tell you what the show feels like. Watching the photos will remind guests of all ages of their most cherished Disney memories, as a kaleidoscope of images is projected onto the “it’s a small world” attraction.

WHO: As part of the thousands of photographs projected each night, roughly 500 photos will be of guests who made memories in Disneyland park that day – resulting in a different “The Magic, the Memories and You” presentation each night.

WHERE: An ideal place to see the projections will be from the Fantasyland esplanade, which runs from the front of “it’s a small world” to the entrances of the Matterhorn Bobsleds and Mad Tea Party attractions.

WHEN: Tonight’s 6 p.m. “preview” show is a special preview, followed by the official debut at 7:30 p.m. The current show schedule is:
7:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday
8 p.m. and 9:10 p.m. Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays
Show times are updated at www.disneyland.com

I wasnt able to get to the first 6:30pm show because it took me almost 1 and a half hour from Santa Monica to Anaheim, when it should have taken no longer than 45 minutes. Oncer inside the restort I got to see the final fireworks blast from the show, but nothing else. And I dont think I could have gotten in, I think this was only for media over the area. I will go tomorrow to Disneyland Park and get and HD video of the first show to public at 8 pm.

Apparently this show is still going on at DL, for some reason I thought it ended. Does anyone really make an effort to go see it unless your going on "it's a small world."

It's a good show but after seeing the projections for so many other shows for years now Remember, Magical, Halloween Screams, Believe, the snow shows, 1/4 hour projection show it becomes a bit over used. Anyways an update to the show is an update and that is always a nice thing to see.

Regular show

There was an updated scene for Christmas

And another scene update coming up for Valentines day(Feb 1- April 15)

And yet another updated segment for summer.

I thought they'd stopped doing this. I saw the show at Christmas, like they've been doing for almost a decade, but I thought they stopped the marketing show they had for 2011.

The Valentines Day show sounds cute, but why would you play that past February 14th, let alone through Easter and all the way to Tax Day?!? :veryconfu

So now it's closing, The Magic, The Memories and You! will come to a close on Sept 3. with no replacement. The projectors still get use from Magical, Remember, Halloween Screams, Believe, snow fall, Wintertime Enchantment, and 1/4 hour show during Christmas.

The Magic, The Memories and You!” will be presented for the last time on Labor Day, September 3, at both Magic Kingdom Park and Disneyland park. While “Celebrate the Magic” will be exclusive to Magic Kingdom Park, Disneyland Resort guests can look forward to the return of “it’s a small world” holiday later this year, as well as the debut of a new live entertainment experience in the Fantasyland Theatre, opening in summer 2013.

And for the second or third time in this 20 month thread, I will say...

This show is still happening? I thought they stopped it a long time ago!?

Talk about a "major marketing tool" that seemed to fly way under the radar for the 20 months it allegedly operated.

I think it was a little more difficult for DL than WDW. At WDW, it is projected on the Castle right before fireworks. It was kind of out of the way in the evening to go over to Small World just to watch it. In both shows, it was almost impossible to pick out guests in photos.

It wasn't so much that it was out of one's way but no one really had interest in it at DL.

I just don't think there's a good place for it at DL. Cinderella Castle is an amazing surface to work with for something like this. Pretty much everyone I know who has seen it at WDW liked it.

I agree with this. I was much more impressed with it at WDW than DL. It is kind of funny that it was easier to see details on the Small World facade but it really did not have the oomph that showing it on the castle does.

I thought the Small World Mall was a nice place for the projections, but the concept just didn't seem interesting to the guests. I remember as a CM, explaining the concept of the show to guests when they asked and each and every single one of them always blew it off, some of them even saying "it sounds boring". Even if I was at MK I wouldn't care to see it on the castle, not because of the setting but because the concept just doesn't sound interesting. Even TP thinks the show lasted longer than expected. The lack of posts in this thread explains it too. Maybe it's a California thing, I don't know. We're more of a Fantasmic! kind of people, hence the reason why many people didn't bother with this show.

True. Some things just play better with certain crowds... Country Bears was super popular in Florida, but never as much in California. I've never seen MM&Y on Small World, so I can't really compare the two. The "seeing your picture on the castle" thing was never a big deal to me, but I think the projection show is pretty darn cool. Do they launch fireworks off of Small World during the show? They are able to sync up projection fireworks on Cinderella Castle with real fireworks and it is an amazing effect to me.

Have you seen a video of Dreams from Paris? What did you think? That's likely the direction every Disney castle park's shows are headed in, IMO.

I haven't been to DL since it started, but the general consensus seems to be that it's better on the castle. Maybe there's something about seeing something that size appear to be alive and move and change in an instant that imparts something extra to the show? Maybe "artistic distance" helps in Florida? Maybe the lighting is more controlled? I think it would be very interesting to sort of study why one worked and the other didn't.

Exactly. I myself wasn't a huge fan of the Country Bears and I was even kinda happy it left but I can obviously see you guys love them out in the East. Same for The Tiki Room. It's a big deal out here in California but I don't really see the same affection towards it on this site and other sites dedicated to WDW. The projections were indeed cool, I agree. I don't believe there were fireworks in the show at DL. Small World is pretty close to Toontown, where fireworks are shot off, so that's probably why we didn't have them in the show.

I did see a video of Dreams and I freaking loved it. Maybe I'm being biased because my favorite character ever is Peter Pan and as soon as he popped up, I automatically have the show an A. Still, I thought it was great and I think you may be right with Disney going the projection route for shows.

I'll also say that Photopass is much bigger at WDW. There is no Fantasmic at MK in Florida. The Fantasmic that is here is a shell of the one in DL. Plus, timing is also huge. Even though it was show twice, it was essentially the pre-show for the fireworks. Main Street and the hub is already full waiting for Wishes. It really just seemed to integrate into the location better. It's not like it got the cheers the fireworks do. But it is a good break from just standing there getting jostled around waiting for fireworks to start. There is a lot more pyro integration in Florida than there was in California too.

Yep, that and dining too. No big deal here in California. I'm thinking Photopass isn't a big deal here because of how character greetings work here. There are no character handlers, unless it's for a set up meet and greet, where the Photopass CMs are found. Other than that the majority of the characters walk around by themselves.
