Its posted in many, many spots here, but I'll reiterate what everyone has said. Nope, it is a 10 minute show played 20 minutes before Wishes. I'm pretty sure Wishes isn't replaced on any given night.

No, Wishes will still be performed. Think of this show as a "pre-show". I believe they said it will begin 20 minutes before Wishes.

I hate to be pessimistic, but you have to wonder if that isn't the ultimate goal – create an "end of day" show that isn't nearly as expensive as the fireworks shows. TDO would literally save tens of thousands of dollars EVERY DAY if they replaced the fireworks show with something like this.

I'm also wondering of showing it 20 minutes before Wishes isn't a test to see how many people will show up for it on a nightly basis. Otherwise, they'd just put it directly before Wishes without that much of a break in-between. Surely they don't want people out of the shops and restaurants as well as clogging up Main Street for another half hour for no reason.

If they've cut Block Party Bash and Fantasmic, whose to say the fireworks show isn't next?

The fireworks behind the castle are an extremely iconic image, arguably the most iconic image of WDW there is. BPB and Fantasmic are not. If they took away a DHS parade entirely, most guests would be none the wiser and would not even know something was missing. But if there's one thing that people expect to see on their trip to Disney World, it's the Magic Kingdom fireworks. Guest Relations (and every other CM, from custodial to attractions) is/are bombarded with complaints when Tink doesn't fly due to weather concerns. That's a small part of the show, and usually can be seen the next night. If WDW got rid of MK's fireworks show any time in the near future, there would be legions of furious guests descending upon Guest Relations, and generally making the entire park an uncomfortable place.

If anything, I think Disney has found a way to vastly improve MK's fireworks shows at a very low cost. In the future, the projection technology can be used in conjunction with the fireworks to create one heck of a show.

I agree with you completely, and would even take it a step further. I do think that cutting out fireworks would undoubtedly affect their attendance and merchandise revenue. The whole point for starting to do fireworks at night in the first place was to keep people in the park the entire day (spending money). If you take away the fireworks show at Magic Kingdom, more people would leave to go to dinner and not come back.

And if they were even thinking about cutting down fireworks they wouldn't have invested in perimeter fireworks last year for Summer Nightastic. I heard something crazy like that doubles the cost of the show. I think Disney takes great pride in being pretty much the only place where you can see fireworks any night of the year.

That looks amazing! Definitely alot better (and worth it) than what people were predicting a few pics being slapped up on the castle. Can't wait to see it in September!

I completely agree, but it wouldn't surprise me to see them eventually make this one combined show - cut the fireworks back considerably and do them in conjunction with the projection show. One show, 60% castle projection 40% fireworks. They would save thousands every day.

Yeah, I could definitely see that happening. But I actually don't think I'd be disappointed. I think that that might be a cool show, better than just fireworks. If Disney does it right, they could satisfy everyone and do it for less money. I mean, World of Color is what everyone hates about Fantasmic: extremely long mist screen projections. But it's done right, so everyone loves it, and it runs fairly cheaply (cheaper than fireworks, anyway).
