Good Morning Everyone. It still surprises me how many people who have not been WDW do not realise that there's Epcot,Hollywood Studios,Animal Kingdom. They see this image of Cinderella's Castle and Disney characters in parades etc..Now let me just say that MK is without a doubt my favourite park,as much as I enjoy Epcot and the others, there's something just extra magical about walking thro the entrance, hearing the music, and seeing the castle from the bottom of Main Street USA. I can still remember my first visit in 2004 at the ripe old age of 51,it brought me to a standstill and almost left me with lock jaw.Even on my last night of every vacation since,I turn around and say goodbye to that castle, with a tear in my eye. So to all you folks who vote for MK as your favourite. What in your opinion makes this the most magical place at WDW.? Does it bring back your happiest memories,? Is there a special moment that brings a smile to your face.? Tell us your magical memory of Magic Kingdom. It may be a happy one,or a sad one..Open up your heart and tell me a story.;)

On my last trip on father's day we ran from rope drop to meet Rapunzel. Of course she and her hair braider were running late so my ds was the first boy on line and told everyone it was ok that Flynn might be the only character coming out for a while. The next thing you know Flynn was escorting my ds to the Sword in the Stone and he got to pull it out!:) I'll never look at it the sme way ever again! That being said every time I see the castle for the first or last time every trip I shed a tear, and of course my first time on all the classics each trip and Wishes I also shed a tear! Not bad for my second favorite park!

Christmas 1995...first of all, it was COLD, but we had a wonderful trip. DD5, at the time, was picked to go on stage with Chris Moose and dance/sing...this show was in Toontown...she wanted to do it because she would get the big colorful lollipop at the end...well, she got her wish and took one taste of the lollipop and her facial expression was priceless...a BIG YUCK!!!! We tease her often, when we see one of those swirly, colorful lollipops. It looked pretty but didn't taste as good as it looked. ;)

Gosh, you know, I only visit Magic Kingdom and it's only when I visit that park, I feel the magic! I guess it's the genuine vibe, smell and scenery of that park. It's very authentic and original. The gorgeous castle, the rides that relate to the classic movies, I just feel it has everything for me in my opinion. It does make me so sad to leave because I always fear, "will I ever come back?" It's just the best park in my opinion! (:

Ok Hatter getting teary!! I remember taking our DD for the first time in June 1993. We walked into MK and her face just lit up seeing the castle!! I think she smiled the entire trip. We had the best vacation ever!! And that's why we keep going back to make more of those memories!!
When we go without her, I tear up just walking through MK because I will remember her being little and loving it as much as we do.

Disney isn't just a place. Disney is a mindset. For some people, a way of life even. Disney is the ONLY place I can completely forget about anything that's going on in the real world and not let anything stress me out. To me, MK IS Disney. All the characters that we all know and love... all the classic Disney movies that are brought to life here.. the parades, the shows, the fireworks... It's where my younger days, which were filled with the Disney channel, Disney movies and Disney music comes to life. When I was younger, we ate, breathed and lived Disney so MK to me IS my childhood.

1995, my first visit to WDW, MK the first Disney park I stepped foot into. Fulfilling a dream I had as a child to visit a Disney park. I remember riding POTC and instantly recalling the scenes I watched as a child, pajamas on, sitting on the living room floor with my sister. And there was Walt on Walt Disney's Wonderful World of Color telling me about those Pirates and each scene I was now watching.

I've been going to WDW since 1971 when the MK was the only park. My parents literally would save everything they could to bring the family to their favorite place. Even as a child I remember how excited my mother would get for each vacation and the look on HER face to be at WDW. Now that I'm older I realize how many of us find the special memories are of others, not ourselves.

It feels like you have walked into a whole new world (hehe) when you step through the turnstyles. Main Street is what seals the deal, IMO. Fantasyland has all the pixie dust, princesses, etc, but that's not what I feel is the true magic. It all comes back to Main Street and Cinderella Castle. That's what's magical for me. I'm not sure why, but it is.

A lot of things make the MK special. The walk to the castle, meeting most of the characters there, the rides, Wishes, everything really. I think I love the fact that no trip to the MK is ever the same. Things may change or stay the same depending on when you go but the experience is always different. I think derelicte19's post hit the nail on the head how symbolic the Magic Kingdom is with Disney and what it represents. It really is a one-of-a kind theme park :)

Oh gee, I have so many over the years. I was 14 and my little brother was 4. We were on Pirates and he got so scared that he got on the floor of the boat and crawled under the bench ( then they were open bench seats). He's 36 now (great I just told everyone my age:eek:)and 6'6 and we still make fun of him. Going on our Senior Trip, going on my honeymoon, and my daughter's first trip. There's more, just don't want to bore you.

I went to WDW for the first time when I was just under 3; people tell me that's why I think it is so special, but I don't think so.

The first thing that comes to my mind when someone asks me what makes WDW special is that it's a complete escape from reality. We have nothing but fun there (for the most part). No work, no chores, no worries. We spend money like we rarely can in real life and we feel like little children at Christmas when we do it (even though we're paying the bills). It's clean, perfectly trimmed, everyone is nice and there's no crime. (At least for the most part.) All we do is play in a beautiful wonderland of happiness.

Okay, well, some of that thinking may be the toddler in me but you get my point, I'm sure. I don't know if things are actually different today or if I am just looking back through rose-colored glasses, but I remember the MK as always being perfect. I think the coolest thing for me was that even though everything looked amazing, we never saw any work being done beyond the efficient sweepers who seemed to come out of nowhere whenever the need arose.

It always seemed to me to be the closest thing we have to Heaven on Earth.

Even today, several decades later, when I see the Cinderella Castle women's room in desperate need of a remodel, watch workers wash the sidewalks and tend gardens, and overhear squabbling between cast members the magic is still there. It's just as special because, despite the reality of the flaws which are obvious to an adult's eyes, it is still the closest thing we have to Heaven on Earth.

IMHO

Awesome stories folks..Now I feel so much better this morning after reading them..The sun is out ( one day only ) and I'am going to sit out in my bak yad and have a smoothie and maybe later a wee margarita.;)

My first visit was in 1982. I had been raised on the "Wonderful World of Disney" and the image of Cinderella's castle came into my home every Sunday. Everything about Disney during my first trip was magic - It was like I stepped through my tv into Disney World because everything looked exactly as it was on tv. The castle took my breath away from the moment I entered, and every little detail amazed me. I felt like Disney was meant to be the place where dreams came true.

As an adult, I get so upset when I hear news stories of guns being found in AK, and people acting in less than amiable fashion. It threatens the very foundation of what WDW is meant to be...
