The Magic of Disney Animation - Passholder Preview Offer

I went there this afternoon.

The first room "Drawn to Animation" is the same as it has been for a while (the film with Mushu) except a trailer for The Incredibles has been added.

The second room (where you once saw an artist draw a character) is nothing more than a holding room now for the rest of the area. On the walls are some background art created for the movies that were made in Orlando.

The next area (which used to allow you to watch the animators work) is the big addition.

The areas include:

Touch-screen kiosks that allow you to color characters
Kiosks that let you provide the voice for characters (I think that is what they do, those were very busy)
Kiosks that allow you to play "which character are you"
An Incredibles meet and greet
And an finally, an area that allows you to learn to draw the characters.

Some pictures (sorry, they are not very good)

Is it like the previous tour where you have to keep moving through as a group? Or once you get inside past Mushu's movie, can you linger and move at your own pace and do everything there is to do?

I'll go to this area - the activities sound fun - but I just can't be that excited. Not when this replaced the animators who brought us timeless classics. . .

THANKS for the pictures! They are great!
SO, there's not a large room with many, many screens playing different concept art, backgrounds, actual stills from the animated films?
That's the best part of the DCA...as someone said, I could sit in there for hours at DCA, and was hoping they were doing this in Florida!

 I am sorry to grunt, but I must ask--"Did anyone enjoy this?" This attraction should have remained closed! It had as much excitement as the Haunted Mansion set. NONE. The touch screens looked like something you would see in a kiosk in the mall, or play with on your PC with clip art. Sorry, but I was so disappointed. My boyfriend graduated Ringling School of Art this year with hopes of one day working for Disney. With all that has happened over the past year in Animation at Disney, he has been so sad. But going to this preview just topped the cake. I thought he was going to cry. The only good thing he said that he saw was the still Poster for American Dog and Repunzel Unbraided. I grade this an F.
Sorry to sound so harsh. Just an honest opinion...

I'm one person that is completely against what has happened as I too was going concentrating on my art and had my dreams shattered when Eisner killed it. I wanted to be nothing else than a Disney animator for the rest of my life. I miss the old tour but won't complain about the new one as long as I can pay my respects to the animator's who no longer can bring us the magic that lived at the desks there at one point.

Couldn't have said it any better myself Grizz. Nothing will ever fully replace them.

I liked it. It was much better than the tour was earlier this year. Infact, I really liked it.

That's been gone for a while. I miss that deeply, as do a lot of us. But the real loss is the animators. They're the ones who made the magic of drawings come to life. Disney has taken the animate out of animation by removing the animators. Very sad.

I'm really going to miss the "Back to Neverland" movie. One of my favorite Disney memories involved me grasping onto a random, inconspicuous line and then surprising the heck out of the animator in the next room.

The line from the movie- "My name's Robin, but you can call me Chuck."

Animator, showing the drawing of Robin- "Who is this?"

Me- "That's Chuck!"

*Room is dead quiet before the animator bust out laughing*

Animator- "After hundreds of shows, no one has ever picked up that line and carried it through to this room."

That's one of my greatest memories.

This one will never replace the original.

I thought the new tour was utter rubbish. The intro film with Mushu was good... the humor was kinda hokey, but acceptable. But from there it turns into a tour about animation into a giant merchandising opportunity. I'm sorry, but stuffing one of the artists that sells the sketches in the park in the middle of the attraction IS NOT THE SAME.

It seems almost as if one of Presslers ideas found its way out of the trash can.

I do however like the Incredibles Characters
