Alot of characters have been getting cut this year.
A LOT of things have been cut this past year. It seems that for every increase (no matter how small) there are two or three cuts that come. Sure, there are promises of Pandora, Star Wars land, and Toy Story land in the future, but for now, WDW seems to be more focused on cutting (apparently to reduce costs). It is almost like WDW has decided that crowds will inevitably be low until these new lands open. Of course, with all of these cuts, it is no wonder that people are deciding to delay their WDW vacations. I'm even having second thoughts regarding my upcoming trip.

I don't mind seeing characters come and go, but I don't feel like the Muppet show is a like for like replacement. If they were cutting Hatter and other characters, but bringing out new/different characters with that same budgets, I'd prefer that. The Muppet thing seems like it should be an addition not a replacement budget-wise.

The thing I don't get about the Hatter is they really don't save that much from the budget. Alice is still meeting so the attendants and Photopass are still costing the same. Costuming won't even save much as he'll still be meeting at 1900 Park Fare breakfast so MK costuming will still carry his costume. It was the same with Lady Tremaine.

If you're going to cut a character, you might save as much as possible by also cutting the attendants, Photopass and back to backs. Cutting one character, especially a face character, saves practically nothing.

Cutting Rafiki from MK made some sense. By cutting him they're saving themselves 3 performers, a couple of attendants and photographers and the costuming costs. Cutting the Hatter they save themselves one performer.

Don't forget the Summer Campaign Disney release months ago that turned out as a terrible.

So his no longer a part of the Festival of Fantasy Parade either? In the past few Fall/Winter seasons Alice, and occasionally the Hatter, usually only meet at the Tea Cups in the Mornings til noon or 1pm, and then walked in the 3pm parade, and that wasn't a daily, just a few times a week

He will still be in the parade though.

He's at the 1900 Park Fare at the Grand Floridian for breakfast anyways, so it isn't a really big deal.

Disagree. Previously we could meet him in the MK for no extra money on top of what we already paid to be there. Now in order to meet him we will have to shell out for a $100 breakfast. No big deal would be moving him from one no additional charge location to another - lateral move. This is a $100 surcharge for a family of 4 for a meet that used to be "free".

What's the count for this year? I never thought much about it but it does seem to be adding up lately.

Rafiki. Woody and Jessie. The Mad Hatter. The Fairy Godmother. Scoop Sanderson. PUSH the Waste Please.

Good job TDO and Dan Cockerell!

Maybe we can get some Marvel characters in there now.
