The infamous Epcot wand

I would like to see it come down. The projection system sounds great, and it might even add to the elegance of Epcot. I think thats what Epcot is now missing...elegance. Just think of the new projects in the works...Finding Nemo, the Mexico three Caballeros? all these characters are coming in...that sure wasnt the point of Epcot. Right now, the wand is just flashy...at times, it can look magical. But, if it doesnt look magical all the time...then why have it? Dont get me wrong, even with some character stuff.. I LOVE Epcot. But WDI should reconsider the purpose of Epcot. Each park should be able to stand on its own with its own purpose. They shouldnt start mixing and matching. I really think the Wand coming down could help this problem out...

I don't particularly like the wand but I don't find it offensive either. I never thought that SSE was a "beautiful" structure to begin with so it doesn't really matter to me either way. However, I can say that I agree with those who say it just doesn't really fit.

Get rid of the wand. I had several trips before 2000, I was there in 2000, and I was there in 2005. In 2000 I put up with it because it was assumed to be temporary (2000 on top), but then it changed to Epcot on top. It ruins the progressive nature of Futureworld and disembodies the true meaning of Epcot. I'm disappointed that the hurricanes in '04 didn't take it down.

The only thing that rivals my dislike of the wand is my dislike of the MGM hat. The hat is ok, but it needs a better place. Where it is now totally ruins the aesthetics of Hollywood Blvd.

To me, the wand is like the castle birthday cake...

It was fine for the celebration but as soon as the celebration was over it should be taken down.

On second thought, neither of them should have been put up in the first place.

I don't mind the wand, but that's probably because that is how I first saw the geosphere. So that is what is familiar to me, and what I expect to see.

I saw the geosphere first in 1990. And I think the 'wand' adds greatly to it. I do not know why it causes so much consternation. I think some people want everything to be as it was in Walt's day. But if this is the case, then not a single square inch of Walt Disney World would be in existence today. (And before you all jump down my throat, I mean this with no offence to Walt whatsoever. As far as I am concerened, he is the most innovative American that has ever lived).

I have gone through those same emotions. But I'm suprised that the poll shows about 60% now say its ok or dont care. I really thought on these boards the "take it off" would be leading the way.

I want it gone, because since the wand came, they've not been lighting SSE. No dramatic color changes like Cinderella castle anymore - hardly any projections or use of lasers. It's stopping those, for the sake of being "sparkley." I for one am SICK of looking at a purple-ish SSE at night. It's stagnant, un-futuristic and dull.
