The impact of weather...DTD busier than MK!

What an odd but nice experience we had at WDW Tuesday the 8th.

The forecast called for high percentages of rain for most of the day. We had plans to go down to DTD for dinner and it was PACKED. The stores themselves were really busy with so many people seeking shelter. The World of Disney store was a madhouse and it felt like a packed day at the park with people in every part of the store and you had to wait for people to pass by, navigate around stopped people, etc. It was crazy.

Around 5pm we thought we'd go ahead and head over to the MK as it had stopped raining. I was expecting fairly high crowds despite the rain, but I was shocked to see the parking lot so empty and to see parking being directed only several rows back from the TTC!

This ended up being one of the lowest crowd levels I've experienced in a very long time and since the rain did hold off it made for a lovely, wonderful evening. PotC, THM, IASM, and quite a few other rides had stand-by waits no longer than 10 mins. Even the 70+ normal wait of Peter Pan was down to around 30 minutes. Walking along Main Street was an enjoyable stroll, there was no line at Sleepy Hollow and it was just a really nice evening and as of about 8pm most of the public areas felt empty (the park was open until 11pm).

While I'm sure that there were more people at the MK than at DTD, the 'feel' of it being crowded was MUCH worse at DTD, which I thought was really bizarre. It was as if the two places had reversed roles for the day, possible due to the weather.

And then to look at the wait times on the MDE app and see 120 min waits for attractions today (the 9th), made me appreciate even more the lovely, uncrowded evening on the 8th.

I never mind a few showers while I'm in the parks, most family's dont like rain so they use it as an excuse to get the kids to leave for a bit lol

I had a ball in March on our last full day since it rained. There were hardly any waits. It was amazing. Later on the park got more crowded but I didn't mind

Agree. Was in AK during the day. Sparse crowds. Ate with folks at Ohana. They went back to resort and I hopped into MK. Nobody there (relatively speaking).
