Project 12 – Bootcamp Minnie –Mickey

Mater: Hey guys. Still recovering from that last mission? Well… it’s only getting harder. This is the last challenge before the finale, and we can’t always get what we want!

(The judges sink into their chairs)

TrevorA: Sorry…!

Mater: It’s a double elimination. Your challenge is to remake Camp Minnie – Mickey with the focus being on a new ride. What’s that? You wanted Beastly Kingdome? Well… you can’t always get what you want!

Hack2112: We’re sorry! Geez.

Mater:… Sorry. Getting carried away here. Your challenge is to keep the Camp Minnie-Mickey theme while adding a whole lot more… the only thing that you must keep is the meet ‘n’ greet trails. There will be two ‘teams’ per se, Team One will need to create a play area and a quick service restaurant. And Team Two will get to make an outdoor flat ride (a themed carnival-style ride like Dumbo or the Tea Cups) and you also get to make a quick-service restaurant. TOGETHER, you need to create a D/E Ticket attraction, which will be the centerpiece for the expansion. Team Leaders, you have to pick the overall themes of the expansion, fill in any extra theming, and collaborate on a map of the whole land. Each team has to choose one person to go to elimination. It’s a lot, but –

Judges: You can’t always get what you want!

Disneyson 1: We know, we know!

(Mater smacks Disneyson in the head!)

CHALLENGE: Camp Minnie-Mickey Expansion!

Criteria:
o Must keep Camp Minnie Mickey theme and the Greeting Trails
o Team One: play area and Quick Service Restaurant
o Team Two: outdoor attraction (i.e. Dumbo, Mad Tea Party) and 2 Shops
o Team Leaders: Theme, layout of land (need map), D Ticket attraction (with team members)

Due: Saturday May 8th 7pm EST

Mater: Who’s going to be in the final 3? Let’s find out… Wait… correction, since no one left last round, TWO people will be heading home this round. Happy Imagineering!

Chronoymous PM me you choice for the two ‘teams’ and leaders ASAP! Once you send to me, feel free to post on here so you can get started ASAP!

I haven't figured out yet which team we are (which project we are tackling) yet...because I need some judge clarification first!

In the main paragraph description...you say team one is responsible for play area and restaurant, while team two does ride AND restaurant as well...

but then Criteria claims team two is in charge of ride plus shops? Is that the one that is correct?

Sorry, i just got home from school.. Here is what the two teams will do

OFFICIALLY:

Team Two- B/C Ticket Attraction (ie Dumbo, Tea Party) and 2 shops

SOrry for the miscommunication, i mixed some stuff up.. THERE YOU GO. Happy Imagineering!

Ok...Difficult decision...but as both teams need to collaborate on a D ticket ride as well...I'm going to hand over the flat ride and shops to Fractal's team...

Me and WDWVacationer will be Team 1, and do the play area and restaurant.

doesnt matter (in regards to location of shop)

Remember, we'd like a map to visually everything... AND you must keep theme and Greeting Trails :)

Ok, thanks.

Aren't the team leaders creating the map?

And just to clarify, the theme of Camp Minnie Mickey is an Adrirondack Mountains Fishing Area/Campgrounds.

Ok...so both of our teams have to create essentially a new theme for the area, still keeping in line with Camp Minnie Mickey...so

What do you all think about a retheme to the Australian Outback? Is that allowed??

It says this in the OP
Team Leaders, you have to pick the overall themes of the expansion, fill in any extra theming, and collaborate on a map of the whole land.

Camp Minnie Mickey can be a rustic camp in the Outback, just as easily as it can be in the adirondacs...

and think about it...what cool stuff we could create in this! Kangaroo Karnival rides! Play area with crocodile stepping stones, a fun way to bring different species of animals to the park that aren't being represented!

Feel free to tell me I am wacked...but I do like this idea as an overall new theme! :D

Disneyson 1

You HAVE to keep the camp Minnie-Mickey theme.. i.e. every addition you make to the area HAS to somehow be related to a piece of animal-oriented Disney Animation and/or themed to the wonders of North America. Australia is kind of... not North America. Sorry!

I have to agree with Disneyson on this one. It's a good idea, though, Chron. Don't forget about that one, you may need it someday

REMINDER: PROJECTS DUE TONITE AT 7PM EST!!!!

JUDGES! If you can get your vote in for team member who is to go home (the person in your mind who is weakest) WE NEED TWO. As this is a Double Elmination!

Also, whoever teamleader posts the WHOLE THING (b/c it needs to be together) PLEASE post what EACH PERSON has did/done.

Like last time, i will have TrevorA be controling the Elmination for this round (he's getting ready for League of Dreamers), so send any information to him.!!

Mater,

I think that having the team leader post who has done what is an unfair advantage to the team leader and also subjective. I might look at the project and say, ok this was my idea and I did this and that and that, and he did this. But in reality it was much more nuanced than that. Might I suggest as an alternate that each member submit either publicly or via PM the reason why they think they should be eliminated vs their teammate?

If not, that's fine, I just thought I'd make the suggestion.

That is a good point Fractal. (thanks for bringing that to our attention, i never thought of that way) CHANGE OF PLANS!!

Each team member (all 4 of you) MUST send a reasoning to either me or TrevorA of WHY you think you should be in the Final 2 of the Competition. I feel that is fairer.

(TrevorA if that is ok, then this is official)

With the project due at 7pm. I'd like to have yoru responses by 9pm EST if you can do that. Please and Thank You!

Thank you for your dedication to revising and refining the process. Though I have not always agreed with the way you guys have done things, I do appreciate the work you do and your willingness to hear feedback and act on those suggestions.

Since we have so many components coming in from multiple teams, I will begin posting my team's work.

Fractal's Team- Camp Minnie-Mickey's New Shops

It is our goal with these shops to create unique shopping environments which would be considered destinations in an of themselves. At the same time, we also wish to create stores that MAKE SENSE to the theme of the area and also have a back-story, or reason for existing. The Trading Post (or camp store), I feel, is a fixture at most major camps and the products sold by Huey, Dewy, and Louie, represent the things that most campers would bring with them (even if they aren't supposed to) We also feel that having the comic books sold is a way of integrating Marvel into the parks slowly and in appropriate ways. The Nut store makes for a unique snack stand/store that appeals to older guests and will hopefully draw them into this section of the park that they might otherwise skip. Plus it's a great synergy with the Mess Hall to be able to purchase one of the major ingredients right there in the parks. Without further ado, we present our two stores. Thanks to Chow.com for the list of Candy in the Trading Post.

Scrooge’s Trading Post
Camp Essentials and More!
Anyone who's ever been to camp knows that hitting the camp store is crucial to an enjoyable summer. Camp essentials such as bug spray, suntan lotion, towels, and toiletries (all branded to Camp Minnie-Mickey of course) are all available at modest prices for those who came to camp ill-prepared. There are also lanyard and bead kits, and other small crafts projects for campers looking to complete one or two of those merit badges while on vacation. Guests looking for an affordable souvenir might bring home a “Camp Minnie-Mickey Towel” or a bottle of “Pete’s Pest-B-Gone Bug Spray” which are just two example of the fine products sold in Scooge’s Trading Post.

Of course, camp isn't all about brushing your teeth and soaking in Skin So Soft, as Huey Dewy and Louie pointed out. And so Uncle Scrooge has given them a corner of the store, in which guests can purchase what the three brothers thought were camp essentials, Comic Books and Candy Bars. Featuring a large selection of Marvel Comics and candy bar favorites from around the country (so everyone can have a little taste of home) this section of the store always seems to be a little bit more crowded than the other. The Marvel comics featured here are mostly single issue reprints of some of the classic moments in Marvel Comic history, along with a couple of mock-up books that feature “Ghost Stories” featuring Disney Characters. The candy bars would be regional favorites shipped down to WDW and available ONLY in this location. They include:” Valomilk (Kansas). Chocolate and vanilla in a goopy masterpiece, Twin Bing (Iowa). Two brown-gold balls of sweet cherry cream covered with crushed peanuts and chocolate, GooGoo Cluster (The South). A sugar bomb made of marshmallow, caramel, peanuts, and chocolate, Big Hunk (The West). A delicious vanilla nougat shot through with roasted peanuts, Peanut Chews (Pennsylvania, Delaware, New Jersey). A Philly classic loaded with peanuts and molasses, and covered in chocolate, Sky Bar (New England). The only mainstream candy bar that comes with four separate flavors: vanilla nougat, peanut, fudge, and caramel. A Boston icon, Coffee Crisp, Aero (Canada). A trip over the border offers a multitude of delights—the candy equivalent of cheap meds.”

Guests should also plan to spend some time looking at the walls of the store which are covered in camp memorabilia, including posters from Camp Shows done in the past, recipies for Mess Hall favorites no longer served (like the Mystery Burger with Secret Sauce “See if you can guess what’s in it”) Also, Photo’s of Mickey and friends working on building the camp and having fun doing various activities.

Chip and Dales Nut House
You’ll go nuts for this place!

When Mickey was designing the layout of the camp with his friends, they all made several requests. Daisy wanted to ensure there was a garden; Ludwig Von Drake felt it important to include an educational program on conservation. Chip and Dale requested the planting of several nut trees. Mickey complied and ever since the camp has been blessed by a wonderful bounty of a variety of nuts every year. So many nuts in fact that not even Chip and Dale can possibly eat them all, oh what to do?

Goofy, known around the kingdom for his sweet tooth, saw a chance to try out some new recipes and asked for Chip and Dales help. Using the nut harvest, combined with Goofy's expertise, the tiny tag team were able to develop some marvelous sweet AND savory nutty concoctions. Toffee Pecans, Roasted Almonds, Honey Roasted Peanuts, Spicy Cashews, Salted Pistachios, and Wasabi Peanuts are among the rotating offerings here in this specialty store. Also available are Chip and Dale’s Nutty Butters, a variety of Almond, Peanut, and Cashew butters used over at Minnie’s Mess Hall and available in jars for take home purposes.

Guests can view cast members working on the delectable offerings via a large window on the side of the building. Every so often one of two special demonstrations might occur… Occasionally Goofy will stop in to make sure everything is going according to plan, though usually this ends up with some sort of minor disaster in the kitchen. Also, one or two lucky guests may be invited to join in a demonstration in the kitchen.

Truly this fabulous nut house is a great place for adults and children alike, who have an interest in food and candy making. It draws in guests who would otherwise ignore this fabulous section of the park.

Camp Minnie-Mickey Forest Exploration
The Camp Minnie-Mickey Forest Exploration would combine fun play equipment, games and education to make for a great experience for kids and teens. There would be real pine trees, oak trees and maple trees. All would be transplanted from WDW property to ensure maturity. Some trees would be cement in some cases to allow for play apparatus.
Features of the playground:

•Trees would have
-Slides attached
-Rope swings on branches
-Swings

Real gardens would be a home to butterfly gardens and a daily ladybug release in the play areas, along with a bird aviary.

The ground would have the rubber paving now common in Disney play areas. This rubber would be broen to make it look like dirt.

•Exploration caves-cement faux rock caves that take you through different North American ecosystems. There would be real animals and dioramas.

•Exhibits featuring real animals that are represented in Disney films . (Pochahontas,Bambi etc.) Along with "camp consuelors" to answer any questions. (Not all animals will be live.) Some of these exhibits will be in the caves and included in the scavenger hunt.

•At one point along the trails, the play area dips into a velley with large rocks and the river attraction running through it. Zip lines, sky bridges and rock climbing walls criss-cross the valley, emerging from the high rocks, rising over the river and coming down to the ground. They go to different parts of the play area.
 • The whole area would have a scavenger hunt called the Camp Minnie-Mickey Nature Scout Tour that would require finding diffrent animals, plants, shaped rocks (In shape of bears, fish,Mickey Mouse head etc...). Each group of 15 kids would be taken through the caves by a guide. If all items were found, kids would receive a button reading "I finished the Camp-Minnie Mickey Nature Scout Tour!"

GOOFY'S FISHIN TRIP
Ride: Zamperla Rockin' Tug, redesigned in the style of Caddo Lake Barge at Six Flags over Texas.
http://www.sixflags.com/overTexas/ri...LakeBarge.aspx

Story: Ahh... life at Camp Minnie Mickey. There are a variety of activites, such as canoeing and playing in colorful treehouses. The favorite pasttime of Goofy, however, is sailing! Goofy has been sailing on the lakes of Camp Minnie-Mickey for years, but things are about to change. Goofy has saved up and purchased a used tour boat, in an effort to take guests on a tour around the lake. Guests can board Goofy's green and orange raft located in the middle of Lake Camp Minnie Mickey, and prepare themselves for a wacky spinning ride that not only spins in circles, but runs on a half-pipe shaped track.

Script:
Goofy: Hiya folks! It's me, Goofy! (laughs) Thanks for coming out to help me and my darlin' son and first mate Max catch some fish!

Max: Dad, you're embarassing me...

Goofy: Gawrsh, sorry son. (Laughs) Well, everybody ready? Here we go!

The ride begins. Throughout the ride, commentary will be heard from Goofy and Max, such as:

Goofy: Gawrsh! There's a big one! (As this line is said, an Audio-Anamatronic cartoon fish leaps out of the water and splashes the boat. The boat spins as the fish jumps out.)

Max: Wow! The fish are really bitin' today, huh, dad? (Another AA fish, on the other side, leaps out and splashes the guests. The boat spins a few times.)

The ride eventually comes to a stop.

Goofy: Thanks, everybody! We really caught some fish today! Enjoy the rest of your day here at Camp Minnie Mickey! Awww... great job son, my little boy...

Max: Dad....

The ride vehicle doors open and the guests exit.

Music: The entire ride experience will have a musical accompaniment. An acoustic guitar will play a campfire-y instrumental song to be played behind the dialogue from Goofy and Max.

MICKEY'S CANOE ADVENTURE

Many of the activities at Camp Minnie-Mickey are quite popular: Water Skiing with Counselor Goofy, Uncle Scrooge’s Treasure Hunts, Pluto's Ultimate Frisbee... But none are quite as popular as Camp Director Mickey's canoe rides. Campers take a journey on the Cheekimunkee River and enjoy the sights and a sound of Camp Minnie-Mickey’s other offerings.

SCRIPT AND SCENE DESCRIPTIONS
LOAD/UNLOAD

Guests enter a rustic boat dock, where canoe-shaped vehicles await them inside a quaint boathouse. Along the wall would be a multitude of AA fish singing classic camp songs. An announcement from Mickey is heard over the intercom:

Mickey: Good (Morning/Afternoon) everybody! It's Camp Counseler Mickey here! Just reminding all of you to keep your arms and legs inside the boat at all times. See ya back at camp!

Guests enter the boat and the ride begins.

HUMPHREY
As we leave the station, we see an AA Ranger Woodlore talking to Humphrey.

Ranger: "Now Humphrey, try not to be too much of a menace today."

Humphrey nods emphatically as the ride moves on.

DAISY'S GARDEN

We come upon a lush and beautiful garden with all sorts of crazy looking flowers (very reminiscent of the garden from Mickey’s Toon Town). Daisy is standing in the middle with a watering can.

Daisy: "Oh hi there campers, I hope you like my garden, I’ve worked very hard on it."

Some of the plants move around and interact with Daisy.

We go around a corner and see Daisy in a bee-keepers outfit. We hear the buzz of little wings and see Daisy pull a rack out of a bee box.

Daisy: "I couldn’t have made this garden so great without the help of some friendly bees. They help by pollinating all of the flowers and vegetables. Don’t worry though, these fellas don’t sting, and they’ve got some delicious honey."

We pull away from Daisy and see one last Bee Box with Humphrey the bear swatting away bees and licking his paws, the remnants of a honeycomb laying before him.

DONALD'S CAMPSITE

We near the campsite we see Donald and the Boys.

Donald: "Now don't forget to hang the food in the tree first thing, or else a bear might get at it.

H,D,L: "Of course, Uncle Donald."

Donald and his nephews are putting up a tent. Or trying to! As you approach you hear his nephews asking:

H,D,L: "What's wrong unca Donald?"

You spy them first along the bank...standing next to this mostly collapsed tent that's moving around like it's alive! You hear...rather than see...Donald who is of course the one inside the tent, swearing in that incomprehensible string of syllables that he does so well.

Donald: "Awwww phooey!"

Once you pass the tent, you can see the skunk, winking at us, and just raising his tail in the opening.

As we turn the bend we can see, not too far away from the campsite, Humphrey the bear swinging back and forth from a tree, clutching onto a cooler that is hanging from one of the branches. He has a sandwich in his hand.

PLUTO'S DIG SITE

As we leave Donald's camp site, we begin to hear the sound of sniffing and scratching. We pass by a strip of land with a bunch of holes in the ground. Suddenly, a bark is heard. Pluto's head then pops out of one of the holes. Then, he disappears, but suddenly reappears in a different hole. Before the guests leave, Pluto comes up through the last hole holding a bone in his mouth.

GOOFY'S WATERSKIING MISHAP

We continue the boat journey. Off in the distance, you hear a loud scream that sounds a lot like Goofy's. As you turn the corner, you see what looks like an imprint of Goofy in the wall. Continuing on, you see that Goofy, while waterskiing, crashed through a wall and got tangled up in a tree branch. Max is seen driving the boat he was attached too.

Goofy: Look! I can see my tent from here! (Goofy Laughs.)

Max: Awww, dad....

MINNIE'S PICNIC

As we continue on, we see Minnie spreading out a picnic lunch, she's turned towards us, away from the spread and taking a large layer cake from a picnic basket exclaiming;

Minnie: "Won't this be a delightful surprise for Mickey!"

As you pass by her you now get a glimpse of chip, dale and about 30 squirrels all waiting eagerly on the picnic blanket. There is a second picnic basket behind Minnie, and Humphrey the bear's head is poking into it from behind some bushes.

SCROOGE'S TREASURE

As guests enter a dark cave they feel a cool blast of air and a light mist. The cavern is quite large, not claustrophobic at all. As we look up at the ceiling we can see stalactites and bats hanging everywhere.

Uncle Scrooge: "Now where did that map say the treasure was? On the shores of Minnie-Mickey, ride the river through the cave, find an X that marks the spot, and collect the thing you crave. It must be around here somewhere."

Uncle Scrooge is holding up a lantern in one hand and a treasure map in the other, and looking around the whole time.

We go around a corner only to find Uncle Scrooge and Humphrey the bear, Scrooge is pushing against Humphrey's backside, but the big bear is not budging...

Uncle Scrooge: "You're hibernating on the X you lazy lummox... Now get up and help me start digging."

We get an occasional stirring and growl from Humphrey.

We go around one final corner and see Scrooge sitting on a rock with a bunch of comic books at his feet and an open treasure chest containing even more of them.

Uncle Scrooge: "I cannae believe me own nephews would lead me on this wild DUCK chase." At this point Bats swoop down at Scrooge. "Shoo, go on, get out of here."

MICKEY'S CAMPFIRE

We come upon the final scene, where all the previous characters from the ride are seen around the fire, singing songs and roasting marshmallows.

Mickey: "Heya Campers! Really hope ya enjoyed the trip! Enjoy the rest of your time at Camp-Minnie Mickey!"

The ride continues back towards the load station, but not without one last glimpse of Humphrey:

HUMPHREY, PART 2

Another AA Ranger Woodlore is talking to Humphrey. The Ranger looks somewhat mad, and Humprhey is frowning.

Ranger: "Oh Humphrey... I told you to not get into any trouble!"

Humphrey: (In a muffled bear voice) Sorry.

The boat exits the scene back to the unload station.
