The Hunger Games: Catching Fire

This film looks REALLY good. I waited to see the first Hunger Games until after it had left theaters (previews didn't look that interesting), but was sold on it immediately. Now that many of the Rottentomatoes reviews are claiming the sequel is far superior than the first, I really am looking forward to seeing Catching Fire on the big screen.

Anyone else planning on seeing it? We'll be out of town this weekend, but I will certainly catch it after Thanksgiving.

I might go see it. It depends on if I have time as I would rather see Frozen and Thor (well, he's hot!) first. It will eventually come to Netflix.

I read the books, and I love the books very much. And although the first movie was good and very close to the book, I felt like we didn't get to know Katniss as well and she was less likable. She's such an interesting character in the book and I felt like a huge chunk of that was missing.

But Catching Fire was the best of the books, so I'm expecting it to be the best of the movies.

I agree. I think that's something that's really hard to do going from a first-person book to a movie. I also didn't feel like they really portrayed the desperation of the situation, both in District 12 and during the games themselves...if that makes any sense. I loved what they did with the sort of "behind-the-scenes" parts though, when they showed the gamemakers in the control room-type area. I thought that was really neat.

I'm planning on seeing Catching Fire next week. I have Wednesday-Friday off for Thanksgiving so I'll probably catch a matinée on Wednesday. :)

well, DH and I saw "Thor" last weekend. We just loved it. We did miss some of the dialog as we are both a little hearing impaired- but not enough missed to really detract from anything. Lots of great action and a few interesting twists. Big point though - do NOT hurry out when the credits roll - there are 2 'easter egg' extras to watch - if you don't rush right out.

I am also looking forward to "Catching fire" although I felt like the book was just kind of filler between the other 2. But hey, sometimes I just like to be told a story.

I liked The Hunger Games movie, and I want to see Catching Fire, but I don't know if I'll go see it in theaters or wait until it's released later.

The previews look exceptionally good. I'm planning to see it in a week or two, when the hype has died down a bit.

In regards to the Hunger Games series, I would say that the first book is better than the second, and the second is better than the third. Maybe it's just my reading comprehension skills, but the third book seemed rather disjointed and without a clear plot.

I read the books a couple years ago but didn't see the first movie yet. I didn't see any of the HP movies either until after I had read all of the books.

I found the HG books entertaining, creative and well written but disturbing. That's not a complaint - a lot of good fiction and non-fiction is disturbing.

I totally agree with this. I thought the 3rd book was disappointing, the second was really good, and absolutely couldn't put the first one down.

Um, I'm a Disney lover and saw Thor already and it was awesome!
I can almost guarantee though that Catching Fire will take the #1 spot this weekend.
These movies you watch in the theater. This one especially portrays the new arena which is supposed to be fantastic! It looks really good, I'll be going on Saturday to see it.

I enjoyed watching the 1st one at home, but I've been slacking lately when it comes to movies. I still haven't seen Gravity and 12 Years A Slave yet. So I'm leaning towards seeing those 1st and THG and Thor are if I have time before December unloads 100 movies I want to see as well.

I am hoping that since Suzanne Collins has helped write new material for the first and second movie that she takes this opportunity to fix some of the flaws in the third.

I am a big fan of the series, read all three books and am looking forward to seeing the second movie in the theaters.

I don't read the books, but I've seen both movies now and thoroughly enjoyed them.
It's really interesting how the caliber of acting for the second movie went up by about 400%.
