thats stinks, they just want to save money. But the napkins were my favorite to bring home.

Explain to me how having black instead of purple saves money. Explain it.

Answer, before you try: It doesn't.

Alas, after some research it appears Thrawn is correct.

Perhaps they are saving money because we all don't feel the need to take home a dozen *black* forks...

Nope, no price difference at all. Like I said earlier. They did not change to black utencils to save money because it would not save money. They did it to go with the new black theme on bags, cups, and food baskets.

Now maybe I'm crazy but this is yet another example of the sick people who live in this world. Black utensils, Black napkins, black dishes, come on who cares. You people have way too much time on your hands.

That is it the Sheriff just put a wanted poster up for "Joyjoyner55"

Wanted for one of the most moronic threads ever started.
Reward is yet to be posted......

This post is the perfect example of why Disney is so special. My mother would (shhhhhh) put the utensils in her purse after we were done eating!

Why you ask? Because she loved it. For what ever reason multi colored utensils are something that always remind her of our trips to Disney.

We all have our weird Disney Quirks....

I will admit it. I took extra forks and spoons to take home with me....the kids loved using them after the trip. So I guess they did this to keep me in quota for only getting ones that I really need...but they forget....black is the universal symbol for over the hill and we all know we still need black utensils for that party

During a discussion of another topic here on the boards we discovered that the "importance" of such "small" issues to Disney fans is that - taken as a whole - Disney becomes more and more ordinary with every such move.

ANYBODY can do "ordinary". We were always surprised with so much more from Disney.

THAT is what is so important about the color changes of plastic ware.

why is the color of the plastic silverware an issue?

I find it so insignificant, it is not like the purple forks make the food taste better, but to each is own.

I can also understand the reasoning behind it being cheaper in regards to more people taking home the colored plasticware over the black plasticware.

Just to clairify the forks were red.
Disney used Red forks, Blue spoons, Purple knives, and Turquoise Soup Spoons. That said I agree the change is insignificant.

Disney did not make this move until they conducted a weeks worth of focus groups at all four parks regarding the new designs and thoughts of utensils etc. I am not kidding either. I promise. My point is Disney consulted its Guests before making this move. I know for some this is important, but majority rules.

Thank you for clarifying the corresponding colors to each particular utensil in this insignificant discussion topic:D

I'm surprised they don't have red or orange utensils. Studies show warm colors such as orange and red make you hungry, whereas cooler colors like blue, don't.

I will truly miss the color untensil. I was there at the end of May and did not see the new napkins or bags. If I would have seen the napkins I would have taken some home with me. I collect napkins from Disney since I can remember. I did notice the food tray had changed but did not pay much attention to it. Oh well I will see what the fuss is about on oct. 21.
