The Happiest Place On Earth, But I Wouldn't Want To Work There

Yeah I saw this on facebook too and rolled my eyes after reading it
Honestly some of the statements (IMHO) seem a bit far fetched or at least far from the truth! I have never seen anyone passed out in Epcot and seriously if someone is throwing up in Mission Space its probably because of motion sickness not from getting wasted in World Showcase. I can't imagine someone would be stupid enough to get drunk and then decide I'm going to go on a centrifuge I bet that will feel really awesome!

Did you get this off of Facebook? I just saw this earlier on there.

I don't visit Facebook. I don't even have an account there. I just read it on the Cracked website and thought it was funny.

Funny...and surprisingly touching. The article doesn't trash WDW. It's not a cynical b*tchfest. It talks about the good side of WDW employment too. You've gotta be a strong person to work at WDW, it seems, because if your body doesn't get broken, your heart might. (No way I could handle all of the sick kids. No way).

Some of it MIGHT be exaggerated for comic effect, but we do know that Epcot has a lot of drinkers, and I think we can all assume that WDW has it's fair share of d-bag managers, because what job doesn't?

IMO, some of this is definitely exaggerated for comic effect but it's not terribly far from the truth. Working at Disney is hard work and it takes a very particular person to want to work there. You have to put up with a lot of things that the average guests don't think about and live up to guests expectations which are generally higher than when they do anything else in their life. That being said, you get to have some of the most amazing, memorable experiences that you IMO can't have while working for any other company. I have gotten to do so many amazing things and help give some hope and magic to countless guests while I've been a CM. And that is what keeps me loving where I work and coming back to work everyday.

Hmmmm. Your last sentence implies that people who are drunk retain their ability to think and reason. Interesting.

the only reason i wouldnt work there is because the thrill of going there would die out. i like the idea that i cant afford to go more than once in a 3 year span, it makes me appreciate it more, and lets the thrill of the adventure build every time. too much of a good thing becomes too routine and i wouldnt want disney to be too normal to me.

I have friends who are cast members, everyone there mutually agrees and refers to Magic Kingdom as tragic kingdom.Yes there are lots of drunk people in Epcot. There are also lots of drunks people in DHS who think riding the roller coasters while intoxicated is an awesome idea.If you were to work there one of the best parks to work in is animal kingdom less people and less hours. That said it's not completely awful but there is a reason that cast members get wonderful discounts.

I'm having serious doubts over characters being groped as much as the blog claims. Of course I've heard about how the DL Jack Sparrow was mobbed and treated by the ladies, but I can't see it happening to most of the other characters.

I have been to EPCOT on New Year's Eve and people there definitely had too much to drink. Having done all 3 parks on NYE, HS is definitely the quietest, least crowded park.

We do get at the ER ppl who passed out at disney, either in a park or a hotel. As for ppl throwing up in MS, no idea. But who knows.

I once witnessed a small boy squeeze the nose of one of the seven dwarfs. A security person, not the usual one that always stands next to the character, came out from nowhere and made the little boy apologize to the character. Honestly, I don't know where the guy came from but he was not pleasant about it at all.
