That's right. Just look back and you can see the alien on the right side. He pops out of a vent/pipes. And let's get it out here, the plane in the ride was not used in the movie (the one in the movie was a very low-tech cut out with midgets placed in front to make it look real whenever it was in the background...at least according to Roger Ebert.)
