Coming in 2021 to the Walt Disney World Resort is an all new theme park; Port Disney. Here imagination will set sail and bring guests closer to the sea and the civilizations that have called it home. It will be a Disney Theme Park unlike any other, and the adventure of a lifetime.
Port Disney will be home to several unique 'Ports'. These ports will open up new journeys for guests to enjoy and explore. Throughout guests day they will come to learn the story of humanity and the sea and where that story is going. We hope you enjoy discovering all that this new park will have to offer and all we ask is that you let your imagination set sail!
Ciao and Welcome to Port Mediterranean! Here you will discover a unique world based on the great Empires of Antiquity and the Renaissance. From ancient Athens and Rome, to Renaissance Florence and Venice, Port Disney's 'main street' will welcome guests into the story of the park.
Port Mediterranean is divided into three sections that all flow well and intricately together. Guests will enter through Port Disney Plaza, this will be a state of the art public plaza with luscious landscaping and centered around a beautiful fountain that depicts the Greek God Poseidon and the creatures of the sea. Surrounding the plaza are beautiful Renaissance buildings (they enclose the space in a semicircle divided by a grand triumphal arch). In the distance guests can see the grand dome of the Galleria Vittorio on their right and the hills of the Acropolis on their left. Here, the people mover will stop to link the plaza to the parking garages. This is where most guests will enter the resort.
After going through the turnstiles, guests pass under Elias Arch and into Piazza Mare. This large square is surrounded by beautiful Northern Italy inspired buildings on three sides and the Port Disney Harbor on a forth side. In the squares center is an Egyptian obelisk fountain. The obelisk tells the Port's story in Egyptian hieroglyphics. Located here on the right is the entrance to the Galleria Vittorio, this large building houses two small shops, a Starbucks, and the high dinning restaurant Ristorante Miracosta. Also located here are some quest rooms of the Hotel Miracosta (similar to the one that can be found in Disney Sea). The hotel and small shops/storage facilities extend to the end of the parks border. On the square's left side, creating the bridge between the harbor city and ancient ruins guests find Homer's Odyssey. This classic dark ride takes guests through the story of Homer's Odyssey, bring ancient mythology to life. This attraction will introduce more people to the great heroes of old.
Continuing our journey in Port Mediterranean guests leave Homer's Odyssey and enter into a recreation of Piazza Della Rotonda with a full scale recreation of the Panthon. The Pantheon serves as the entrance to the new ride 'Sea's of Glory'. This attraction takes guests through a vivid recreation of the story of the Roman and Greek Empires. The attraction will intertwine real history with Roman and Greek mythology to create a completely unique attraction. Guests will even have a chance to see Ancient Rome recreated and witness scenes such as the creation of Rome, or the conflict between Athena and Poseidon for the praise of Athens. The attraction will end with guests being able to explore a recreation of the Athenian Acropolis before heading down the mountain back to the Piazza and on to their next adventure.
As guest continue around the park clockwise they cross from the realm of Italian fantasy to a small American port town. The entrance to Port America is styled after the architecture found in Cape Cod, this town of Seagulls Point brings to life small town America. In the harbor sits a grand sail boat while in the distance mountains and a city skyline soar. This town is home to Old Man Swedi's Seafood restaurant, Seagull Point Confectionary, and Martha's Emporium. The town hall serves as the entrance to 'Voyage of the Colombian'. This thrill ride tells the story of Old Man Swedi and his whaling ship 'The Colombian'. With drops and water this attraction allows guests to further explore the story of this small East Coast town.
Leaving Seagulls Point, guests follow the the mountain and rockwork to 1920's California. This bustling port city allows guests to explore an America of yesteryear, when the gin was cold and music hot. Small shops and restaurants fill the Art Deco styled buildings, while guests can ride the trolly. Docked in the Harbor is the S.S. Burnham, a large steam-liner ready to bring guests to Asia. Inside is a gourmet restaurant. Also located here is a grand Art Deco Theater showing a new Disney show inspired by the story of Walt Disney himself.
Leaving the city limits guests see a beautiful mountain range, similar to that of the American West. Gyser Mesa is a small minning town, but home to a big attraction. This attraction, The Adventures of the Chicken Dumbling Gang is a fun western twist on Pirates of the Caribbean (though I make a point that it differs greatly from Western River Expedition). In this exciting attraction guests will be introduced to the story of the Chicken Dumbling Gang, a group of misfit delinquents always getting in trouble. In this attraction guests will see the gang get into trouble all over the Wild West and ultimately take a nice trip down Gyser Mountain Waterfall.
Leaving the American West guests will find themselves in the heart of ancient Mayan Ruins. Here two new attractions will take center stage, the first is the Legend of The Smoking Mountain. This attraction is set inside an Ancient Myan Temple and Mexican mountain range, and tells the beautiful love story of Popocatepetl and Istaccihuatl which can be read in its full entirety below:
Iztaccíhuatl's father sent Popocatepetl to war in Oaxaca, promising him his daughter as his wife if he returned. Iztaccíhuatl's father presumed he would not return and so arranged several suitors for his daughter. When Iztaccíhuatl heard of this she killed herself with a dagger, because she knew that Popocatepetl would never survive in battle, and did not want to marry anyone else. When Popocatépetl returned, and discovered the death of his lover, he took her to the top of the mountain, hoping the cold would wake her but Instead he froze. God covered them with snow and changed them into mountains. Iztac cíhuatl's mountain was called "La Mujer Dormida, (the "Sleeping Woman"), because it bears a resemblance to a woman sleeping on her back. Popocatépetl became the volcano Popocatépetl, raining fire on Earth in blind rage at the loss of his beloved.
The second attraction is the Amazon River Adventure. This exciting and relaxing attraction takes guest through the flora and fauna of the Amazon Rain Forest. Guests will encounter and interact with various birds, sloths, and other animals that call these forests home. It will be an unforgettable experience.
As guests emerge from a beautiful Amazonian canopy and into an exotic and beautiful world of Asian port cultures. Going clockwise from Port Mediterranean Port Asia will open up into a recreation of Ancient Tokyo with Mt. Fuji looming in the background. In this Tokyo recreation guests will find small shops, lavatories, and an elaborate sushi restaurant. This restaurant will be known as Kawasaki Sushi Shop, it will be elaborately themed to Japanese culture and art and will offer a wide selection of sushi and other Japanese cuisine. This area will also have a show called Reflections. This show will be a traditional Japanese Opera...think Turandot.
As mentioned earlier Mt. Fuji will loom in the distance of this area, well inside Mt. Fuji will be an exciting attraction, especially for teens. This mountain will be home to a bullet train coaster, with a twist. The story will center around the idea that Godzilla was imprisoned inside the mountain to keep the world safe. Try and catch him if you can in this high speed adventure!
Leaving the Japanese area through the Mystic Forest will be an experience as well. The forest will feature ghosts/ancestors from Chinese and Japanese mythology. In addition the forest will be a celebration of the natural flora of the continent.
The second half of the Asia Pavilion is the Arabian Coast. Here guests will be invited to discover great stories of the Arabian Coast and be able to explore a rich and unique world. This area is oriented around a great Moorish Palace, the outer courtyard has a large shop called World Baazar and features a museum of Moorish art. The headlining attraction of this area is 'The Flying Carpet', this attraction will be completely original and not based on Aladdin. Guests will board flying carpets and embark on a journey through the story of a wealthy boy named Feroze who is destined to save the world from the Persian Dictator Alborz. You journey with him as he saves and protects his people.
This land will seek to bring to life the exotic cultures and history of Asia and help provide guests to Port Disney an opportunity to learn more about the world around them.
Leaving Port Disney guests enter into Port Discovery, a land dedicated to Jules Verne. This land will combine the beautiful design of Disneyland Paris Tomorrowland, Mysterious Island, and the never built Discovery Bay. Port Discovery will be a steampunk styled port city.
Guests will leave Port Asia and come out into Verne Wharf, this Wharf will be home to many unique shops and a quick service restaurant. The theme of the buildings will be Steampunk Victorian. Similar to Main Street USA, but with a sy-fy twist on it. On the streets east side will be a large canopied building similar to Space Mountain, however inside will be SeaBase NAUTILUS. This is where guests will find the entrance to 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea and the Rocket Man attractions. 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea will be a dark ride journey through the 1960's film and novel by Jules Verne. This attractions entrance will bring guests 'below ground' where guest will board the Nautilus and explore it in an interactive queue then be boarded on to the attraction in safety pods. On the second level of the SeaBase will be the Rocket Man Attraction, this ride will allow guests to explore the moon as depicted in the early 1900's film 'A Trip to the Moon' with guests in movable steampunk jet packs. Guests will be able to turn around completely and even flip upside down with a droid stick. Turning to the West side guests will find the restaurant 'In The Wharf'. This unique 'underground' restaurant will allow guests to interact with the world of Jules Verne below while enjoying delicious meals based on rich Victorian diets.
The centerpiece of this land will be a large Steampunk styled 'pantheon'. This building, located in-front of Mystique Mountain will house the largely interactive queue of the attraction 'Journey to the Center of the Earth'. This unique attraction from Disney Sea will undergo many changes. These changes primarily involve new, richer scenes, and a queue that tells the story of Jules Verne in the form of a Steampunk Library/Observatory. The attraction will essentially become more focused on Jules Verne. The climax of the attraction will be when the volcano (Mystique Mountain) shoots guests out giving them a unique view of Port Disney.
Our final stop is the true centerpiece of Port Disney, Future Port. Future Port is based on the way future civilizations will interact with the ocean and its animals. This land will be located in the center of the park and will be accessible from all of the other ports. This is meant to show that all cultures and people will bring us into the future. Upon entering this island guests will find themselves in a lush and futuristic setting, imagine a futuristic jungle. Water features and beautifully manicured paths will seemingly flow to the centerpiece of the island and the parks main icon, Oceania. Oceania will be comprised of three large spheres that depict the beauty of the sea and inside it will house the parks headlining attraction. Surrounding Oceania are two semicircle pavilions called North Port and South Port. North Port will feature a pavilion dedicated to encouraging guests to design their own ocean futures while a show 'Our Seas' will reveal to guests the challenges that face our seas today and how we can save and protect them for the future. South Port will allow guests to explore the modern uses and future uses of the seas, from shipping to creating energy, guests will realize the importance of the worlds oceans.
Oceania, as mentioned earlier, will be in the islands center. Upon entering the building guests will encounter a larger than life Poseidon who will invite guests to explore the world of our seas. Guests will then walk through very elaborate scenes that depict different ocean biomes from the deep sea to the coral reefs. It will then filter guests into 'Pacific City' through underwater tunnels. These tunnels will be completely safe and allow guests to witness an actual underwater biome.
Pacific City will be the parks underwater city. Inside will be a state of the art restaurant that allows guests to watch the sea as they eat. Another feature will be a small shop and the entrance to the attraction 'Poseidon; God of the Seas'. This thrilling attraction's entrance will bring guests to the 'Ocean floor' (really just a ground level show room). It will follow the story of Poseidon as he attempts to fight the threat of man destroying his home. It will even include an exciting typhoon scene. Guests will be able to either leave the attraction or go back to Pacific City. However the attractions headline attraction will not be located here.
Back outside the building is another entrance to the ride portion of this building. The ride will illustrate the journey of humanity throughout history in the seas. From prehistoric fishing, to modern trade. The scenes will also introduce guests to the beautiful ocean biomes. The finale is when the omnimover ride system brings guests underwater where they pass the grand Pacific City, this piece promotes the future and talks about the ever-growing story of humanity and the sea. When the attraction ends, guests are directed into Pacific City where they can take another tunnel to exit the building.
One unique attraction to the park will be 'Voyages Through Time', this attraction will allow guests to embark on boats and travel around the entire park. Each boat spends ten minutes by each pavilion and allows guests to disembark and embark at different points. The river will even run through some attractions. Ultimately it will end at Future Port. This boats journey will be similar to the one you took today, but will help tie this park together.
Deep Sea Dreaming
At the end of the day you will be invited to go to your favorite port and watch the nighttime spectacular 'Deep Sea Dreaming'. This show will utilize both props and World of Color technology to tell the deep sea dreams of a young girl. From relaxing beaches to the exciting animals of the Coral Reefs. Large props of colorful fish such as Jellyfish, light bulb fish, and many other animals of the deep. All of this set to exciting fireworks and inspiring music to put a wonderful end to an amazing day.
