The Garden Grill

I was just wondering what the food is like here. I have PS for dinner and have read that it has went down hill. It's me, my aunt, and two girls, 5 and 7. Should I change places or keep it? I also have PS for breakfast @ The Crystal Palace, dinner @ Teppanyaki Dining Room, dinner @ Liberty Tree Tavern, and Donald's Breakfastosaurus. Where these good choices? I'll be thankful for your suggestions.

According to the PDF on the official WDW website, Mitsukoshi Teppanyaki Dining Room is still included on the dining plan. Where did you see that it wasn't included anymore?

I used to recommend the Garden Grill to anyone who liked home cooking and great character dining. But they changed the menu when they reopened the place and the food isn't as good.

However, I just read on another board that they are changing the menu back on August 21st (today) so the food is up in the air.

I have always had wonderful character interaction at this restaurant. Chip, Dale, Mickey and Pluto walk around and sign autographs and generally act silly. Especially Chip and Dale, who I have seen steal stuff from waitresses. ;)

With a 5 and 7 year old, that could make for really fun meal. Of course the restaurant itself still rotates which is also entertaining to children.

Teppanyaki is great for kids (if its still on the plan) because they cook in front of you. Kids love that sort of thing.

You could look at Marakesh ( Morocco ). They have a belly dancer there that is entertaining, especially if they have never seen anything like that before.

I hope this was a bit of help. Dining decision always make me crazy when planning. :D Good Luck!

Teppanyaki is on the plan, it breifly wasn't. Many of Epcot's operating participants (read: majority of it's restaurants) didn't jump on the plan because they weren't sure if it would work. They came around when their bookings started to nose-dive while those on the plan skyrocketed.

Its weird that those were your choices because my family seems to go to all of those places everytime, all personal favs of ours.

LIke it was mentioned, the Garden Grille was great for home cooking, and had great theming. The place rotates and you can overlook Living with the Land. Its calm, and relaxing, and great for kids. Again, if they changed the menu I can't speak for it, but it used to be great.

Teppanyaki is like your standard Bennihana's type place, but with Disney class of course. Great food, great dinner show, and a great view of the World Showcase. I've gone once everytime for all 8 of my trips there.

Liberty Tree is similar to the GG in menu and character dinning. Its family style, and very good. Again, great for kids.

We went to Breakfastosaurus for the first time last trip and it was fun. Very large and diverse breakfast menu, and really fun theming inside ( i'm a designer, so i like interesting interiors to places). Also, I belive if you make the ps early enough, you get early entranbce to the park, and a jump start on hitting any ride you want.

Hope that helped.

I do hope that you're right about the menus changing back - We love GG but have read nothing but poor reviews about the food since the rehab

The biergarten in Germany has an extensive and tasty buffet, and a floor show that includes activities for the kids.

I must admit that the service in The Garden Grill has changed. But it is still a good place to eat. The first few times we went there 3/03 and 2/04 my son got a hard plastic souvenir cup and in 12/04 the souvenir cup was not available. They also replaced their strawberry shortcake with apple cobbler. the shortcake was so good. The food is very fresh. The catfish is from the catfish farm in the "the land" ride and so are all the vegetables. Also, a lot of appearances from Mickey, Minnie, Pluto and Chip n' Dale dressed in their farmers' clothes. I also had a good experience in all the other restaurants that you mentioned except Restaurantosaurus. We have not been there yet, maybe this year. For character dinner, I recommend Chef Mickey, it is a very open area with a full bar full of candies and goodies for the kids. They also play music every 20 minutes or so and the characters get everyone to wave their napkins in the air and dance. Food was comfort food but it was good comfort food. The kids will enjoy Chef Mickeys in the Contemporary. If you plan it just right, plan your dinner 1 1/2 hours before MK fireworks. The hotel has a huge balcony were you can get a beautiful view of the fireworks.

Thanks so much. This has helped me out, alot! I read in a review, that the

Tepp Dining Room was not on the dining plan. That must have been when
they took it off. I hope it's back on there. I have read every guidebook and

have looked on every review, to find something that my family and I would

love. Of course the girls wanted to eat at Cinderella's Castle, (and so did I), but she was booked solid that whole week. But I love the places I did get. And I have only 38 days to go! Whoo-hoo!:sohappy:

Thanks!!!

I spoke to someone Friday at Disney Dining, it's definitely changing back to pretty much the old menu. No mashed potatoes (replaced by potatoes au gratin) or stuffing. I think there's roasted pork in place of the chicken as well. Chocolate Cake or lemon tart for dessert. Kids meal is the same

:)

LOL same here Laura. So excited for the menu again - I just didn't see paying those prices for non-AYCE (at least not offical AYCE) and such a limited selection of unappetizing entrees.

I would like if they kept the chocolate fondue, however, since I've never had such a thing. But I'm happy with the reported new retro changes, and can't wait to visit next month!

It seems they are tinkering with 'Ohana now - I hope they don't mess that one up too, but it is nice that they recognized their mistake with GG and had the courage to revert the changes back.
