I’m very interested in getting the Dinosaur set but in the end it'll be pretty expensive.

Yea they are, I could never justify $20 for a skin. I get the game is free but come on. Of course the game makes 135 million a month so I'm pretty sure I'm the oddball.
Luckily I’m building up free v bucks. Got *850 right now.

I'm not sure if you've seen the NEXXON games style of lootboxes. Where all things that you "buy" (cosmetics) with real money.. almost all of them are TEMPORARY. So you never really buy things.
While in most games cosmetics are permanent.. almost all Nexxon games's bought stuff expires.
Also agree on the free game with paid stuff, but like I said, both EA and Activision gets to insane levels (DLCs inside DLcs with lootboxes and randomizations on loot/rewards that makes the game look like a worse version of a las vegas casino)

Yea we have tried to support them as well. My son and wife both bought battle passes and have had a ton of fun with it. They already have season 5 BP vbucks earned. I would get a skin but I just can't spend thst much. I might do the pass for season 5.
I’m definitely going to keep buying the battle pass. Almost done with season 4. With my free v bucks that I’ll have I’ll only need the $5 starter pack for season 5. I could’ve gotten it free but the “Rawr” emote came back in the shop and, well, I needed it
I bought Crash but haven’t played yet. Fortnite is having a double XP weekend and I’m also playing the Mario + Rabbids DLC.

So what do you think of fortnite season 5? So far I'm a bit underwhelmed. I like the vehicle but other than that, its really just more of the same. I feel like they are missing an opportunity by not adding more maps and keeping the alternate modes. Now is the time, since you have a 135 million player base, you don't have to worry about not enough people playing and splitting the player base. Also, it's getting harder to want to play since There is no good way to practice. Playground should be permanent.

Playground will be permanent sometime in the future. Some of the skins are disappointing but I’m still enjoying season 5. Fortnite is still as fun as ever and like season 4 I’m sure there’s going to be more map updates each week.

I honestly think it is time.
I like the idea of a dumb box that I never or rarely have to update with everything happening on someone else's server. This also might allow console gaming to begin to approach the quality of PC gaming since incremental updates will be possible.
My only real worry is the current state of net neutrality laws. Fully online gaming is going to suck up a lot of bandwidth and I am quite confident that the ISPs will want a cut of what MS will be getting.

That's why I don't think that it can work unless things really change. Not only could net neutrality be an issue, but what about data caps, and data speeds. A lot would have to change in a couple years to make it work. I also look at things like last week when my internet was down for 3/4 of the day and then all morning the next. With a dumb box you just cant play. The part of streaming I do like is to mobile devices. It would be nice to log on to my xbox and continue playing on a break at work or on vacation... and the data would be less just due to screen size.
I would love to see some hard numbers on what percentage of the gaming population has or does not have a internet connection viable for streaming games.
I know a fair number of people scattered across the planet and only a few have below a 6 mbs connection. Those few are in very rural areas where the only real option is satellite internet. Everyone else is pulling around 50-100 mbs down or more. I myself have had a cable modem for more than 20 years.
As to internet downtime, so many of the games currently out there depend on an internet connection just to play that I think the point is almost moot. If you want to game in this day and age, you need decent internet. However, I would imagine that MS will look into something akin to Steam's Offline Mode to placate those fears.

I would also like to see national numbers for high speed Internet. In my case, it's about affording it. Internet isn't the highest of priorities with a 5 month old and 2 other kids. I find it hard to believe I'm alone in that. Maybe they will have some breakthrough in tech and it wont matter.
For me, internet is more a necessity than a phone line. Has been for a long time. Nearly every bit of entertainment centers around it and it also gives me the ability to work from home.
Even my MIL now has high speed internet and this is a woman that was rocking a flip phone until 2017.

I just flat out don't trust digital. Not at the time that the system is current but 5yrs or 10yrs down the road. I don't trust that the money I've spent won't just go down the drain if said company decides to shut down its network. If I buy a game, I want to be able to play it whenever I want. Just like my atari 7800, or sega master system or turbo grafix... all of which get used a lot to this day.
