The Future Of The Haunted Mansion

The Nightmare Before Christmas, Haunted Mansion overlay at Disneyland is amazing. I know it won't ever happen but it would be cool to see at WDW too!
No no no... That is the one thing I get upset with when we do DL because it is usually a fall trip and we get stuck with the NBC overlay.... the only cool thing about it is the smell of gingerbread in the dining hall scene.... But the other NBC characters never really fit they just look like someone brought in a bunch of state fair black light glowing junk and threw it out there. Absolutely hate it... the overlay they do for Space Mountain is fine, but clearly they had the second string imagineers doing the Haunted Mansion overlay.

I'd really hate to see any changes or rehabs that removes any of the existing scenes. Its a haunted mansion, they are supposed to be dark and scary. They are supposed to get your heart beating with scares and frights. Disneys version is calm compared to some I've been in. If someone enters any "haunted mansion" expecting cute and cuddly scenery like Its a small world... they are crazy. Why must things be ruined for the minority of guests whose complaints come up because they were irresponsible by bringing a child through that was too young to handle the attraction. We have height restrictions... maybe we should have sensitivity restrictions.

Eventually, the aging Omnimover system should need to be replaced, as it is 47 years old at this point. Does it get replaced by the newer version that they use in the Little Mermaid attraction at MK, or just replace old components as they wear? Any newer ride system technology, ie trackless ride system, probably wouldn’t work in HM, mostly due to the fact that the HM ride track isn’t level. I would hate to see any other major changes, as I don’t think any are needed, IMO. I have never been thrilled with the funneling of people from the stretching rooms into the single file load queue, but not too sure of how that could be fixed at this point.

I will say.. I'm shocked that the hanging scene has stayed put in terms of recent society complaints.

Are you talking about the hanging body that is visible if you look up at the end of the stretching room scene ("of course, there's always my way!")? Or is there another somewhere?

What does the future hold for HM, which is my favourite WDW attraction and is, as I have said before, possibly the greatest classic theme park dark ride ever created. Will there be any big changes, or will it be left alone, aside from any minor refurbs to keep it in good working order? Will the aging Omnimover system at HM be replaced or updated?
Not necessarily looking for facts here (although if you have some, by all means), just looking for some opinions. Alot of talk lately regarding what people think the future of POTC should be, and I was curious about what people's views are on HM moving forward.

Here's what I'd personally like added or removed:

+ bring back AA raven(s) to some degree
- remove interactive queue graveyard or scale back and detoonify
+ improve Seance Room lighting, sound, Leota... everything.. floating table
- remove Constance Hatchaway bring in Tokyo Bride, mourning
- remove Attic groom portraits
+ walking book effect and ghost book prop to Library
+ Trophy Room/Armory/Study new scene
+ Spider-web Man at void where we exit attic window into the graveyard
+ Stretch Gallery improved sound fx
+ Give me back my pop-up ghosts!
+ exterior Howling Dog audio (Haven't heard it in years!)
+ decayed Gypsy caravan at exit of attraction

I really despise attempts to add a story to the mansion. Most of it's charm comes from it's disjointed, demented kookiness that plays like a Haunted House greatest hits compilation. Well, up until they added the " I Do!" ghosts and tinkered with the ghost bride. Fast forward to now and the Attic scene has become a standalone story with the Mansion taking a backseat to Connie's groom problems. I hate it!

So... I guess at this point I'd like either A) the Constance backstory removed or B) The mansion to take on an official story that shows a progression throughout the attraction, whatever that may be. My ideal choice would be to completely nix the bride from the attic. Alternatively I wouldn't be opposed to an S.E.A. treatment on the Mansion with a backstory of a Sea Captain so long as it was done with restraint and without harming the character and classic vibe of the mansion but I don't think Imagineering could pull it off.

I like the new queue and the hitchhiking ghosts changes. When I went to tokyo they haven't updated anything there yet and the difference is night and day. MK HM is amazing. I think they should add the hatbox ghost and upgrade the jump scare pieces of crap in the graveyard scene.

re: Hanging Corpse
It's not presented in a way that "should" create complaint among park-goers. Suicide is implied but the actual prop has been grossly simplified and made tame. It's about as gory or macabre as a pile of dirty laundry. That's about all it is... tattered clothes. The prop design, it's placement in the exact center of the room (guest perspective designed for limited view) and limited exposure through lightning flashes have aided in keeping the prop mostly obscured and away from "judgement" or deep death/life thought reflections. The scene also plays quickly which doesn't hurt. I think it's handled well. Suicide I guess is the issue here. But there's ways around that if absolute necessary should TDO mandate a replacement solution. But I think that idea would be absolute suicide for park ticket sales. ;) As many would boycott such a drastic change. It is what it is. IMO it's handled well.

Laundry, every weekend...laundry. The piles grow bigger. And you are thinking to yourself "Who else lives here?!"

Absolutely nothing should be done, and that is perfect to me. If anything, give us more haunted mansion, like someone said before a table service restaurant.

Disney has done some ballsy things in the last couple of years but any major changes to Haunted Mansion are off limits and I can't think of anything that would need to be changed unless it is a move for the better, don't see any reason why Disney would want to do something that's high risk high reward when they can just do stuff that are low risk high reward until something pressing comes up in the future
