The friends who think you are crazy for going

Wow! There's a lot of us Disney lovers who get a hard time from others about visiting so often! I agree with all of you who said it is a bit of jealousy, and in my case those who have criticized me are actually in debt from buying unnecessary things just so that they can brag about them and they don't understand why I don't want the same things. I could care less about that. I get to pay for all of my daughter's and my needs and save for my trips thanks to not wasting money like that. My daughter won't remember me buying her the latest things constantly during her childhood, but I know she will remember our trips.

Absolutely, do it now. Kids don't stay young forever and you can't get the time back. Those trips are memories she will always have...'stuff' goes out of style quickly.

Lucky enough to know a small army of Florida lovers in my part of the UK. We all agree that nothing quite excites like a visit to Orlando and the typical beach hol is a bit bleh in comparison.

I'd say there's many places in the USA that I plan on visiting though. Whilst I'm somewhat obsessed by Orlando I couldn't spend my life not seeing some of the other parts of the US, Canada, Caribbean and Europe that I plan on doing.

Need to win the lotto :)

Yep I have friends who have said many of the things listed and I always reply that its my money, my life so therefore my decisions! If I want to go and spend my time at an amusement park with a mouse I'm going to do it. My really close friends understand that my heart is in WDW and will tag along with me from time to time but I know they prefer to go on my trips to other destinations.
Its funny that some of the naysayers go to Las Vegas all the time I guess because we can get great deals on flights from our local airport since its not far away and typically you can get a room for a couple nights and not break the bank. I suppose I could say the same to them but I too enjoy Las Vegas though can only do it every couple years. Frankly I'm not a gambler, I like to lounge around the pool and see the occasional show. Dinning in Vegas is awesome and yes shopping is fun but who wants to spend their whole vacation doing that? Also if I want to go out to the clubs and party the night away I can do it here in my town without taking a flight so yeah Vegas is not on the top of my list of places to see all the time I have way more fun In Orlando!

Same here! I haven't even told anyone that we're going back in the fall because I know people will be like "again?!"

I usually just own it when people try to make fun of me for it. Whatevs, it's fun! I like escapism...it's the same reason I read novels so much.

Negative people attract negative energy and they have a hard time seeing past their own world of problems, disappointments, and desires. Disney naysayers may be genuinely puzzled over our choosing to visit WDW more than once or to go frequently, but often it is simply their confusion over how WE can go and they CANNOT. When life choices catch up with you, it can hurt in many ways- and not just the inability to take vacations to the World, but to do many things that would have given them pleasure and fun.

Sad, but we each have our own choices to make and own. Don't let other people's negativity get to you or drag you down.

Since I live in Orlando, I don't need to go on vacation to visit Walt Disney World. But when I want to go on vacation, likely spots are Las Vegas and...Disneyland! I call it a "pilgrimage to the Mother Park." I haven't gotten much flak for it, although people wonder why I would go to Disneyland when I have the Magic Kingdom locally. I want to compare and contrast! I do get some flak now and then from my Dad for choosing Disneyland as a vacation spot again instead of..Disneyland Paris. So I can't really say that counts as anti-Disney nonsense. I did get an uninvited criticism once when I told my Mom's friend that I like to go to Epcot. She said, "But that's not real!" What is Spaceship Earth? A hologram? Thankfully, she's mellowed out since then. Even went to Disney with her new husband and stayed at the Contemporary.

The fact that you and I are agreeing on so much stuff lately is obviously a sign that the end of days are coming. ;)

I was just thinking the same thing LOL! Honestly, I don't even tell most people that I am going to Disney again. I am so tempted to say,"When you pay for my vacation, then you can have a say in where I go". I'd love to say that, but sadly would never do it. It does get frustrating though when you have to hide the fact that, yes, you are going to WDW again. Why is that always a "thing" with Disney and not the beach, cabin, etc????? Oh well.......

There are two people in this debate: Disney people and non-Disney people. There is no way to rationalize with Non-Disney people. It is not worth your time to even try. Its best just not to tell those people where you are going. I have one friend that always says something. However, their vacationing is to go to the same hotel and sit around a pool all day. I ask why spend the money because he could save $3,000 and just go to our neighborhood pool. They go to the pool, sit in the room, and go out to eat...all of which can be done at home for free.
