The First Ride

OK this has probably been done already but I wanted to elaborate. What was the first ride/attraction you ever went on/too and were you impressed, unimpressed, is it still there, do you still like it.....just elaborate.

I will start; Mine was Spaceship Earth. We didn't have a clue as to what we were doing (1996). Walked into EPCOT and of course (like a rookie) immediately got on this ride. Being an engineer and an artist I was so impressed. They had me at Hello so to speak. It was may favorite for quite a while. Now, however, I lean more toward Soarin.

Our very first ride ever was PoTC. Our first trip to WDW we went into MK on day 1, walked up Main St and were dazzled by the Castle. We turned left and headed straight for PoTC. It was the ride I had always dreamt of going on from my days as a child watching Walt on television. It was everything I imagined and more. Its still in my top 10 favorite attractions to do multiple times.

Not sure what my first ride was at age 5, but it was probably Dumbo seeing as my parents had to take turns waiting in line while I rode it over and over and over...

I still like it, but only at night when I can fawn over the pretty water changing colors. :joyfull:

I honestly can't remember that far back, I mean I was 3 when my family got my Disney life started. However, I want to say the Haunted Mansion because that has always been my favorite ride.

So sad I don't remember my first ride. It was February break 1973. I know we did everything.
I do remember crying the rest of the day after going on Haunted Mansion. And then having my mother yell at me that I better not close my eyes on Snow White's Scary Adventures. (yeah, good times)

I am glad I remembered the feeling of being there. That's enough. I'm so hooked, I even joined a WDW forum site! :joyfull:

Horizons made the biggest impact on me as a teenager/YA. Epcot was a masterpiece of science and world culture. Horizons incorporated all the themes of Epcot. I really thought it would be a Legacy attraction like Pirates or the Haunted Mansion. Management thought otherwise once the sponsor was gone.:cry::cry::cry::cry:

Well, if you don't count the parking lot tram (and I might after seeing the shrubbery trimmed into the shape of Disney characters), or the Monorail, and I might again. (It's the Monorail, for crying out loud, in 1979), then my first attraction was COP. I was stunned. Audio Animatronics, "Now Is The Time" (didn't discover the original song until it returned), to say nothing of the rotating theater. I was amazed. It's still there. Would love to see a 5th show area, which I think they could do.

That was followed by the Wedway People Mover. More amazement. Amazement continued at The Enchanted Tiki Birds. (even the birds that were not singing swayed to and fro., a detail I appreciated even more in the Hall of Presidents.

As I have written before. It was all capped off by the explosion of the Electric Water Pageant as we sat by the pool at the Contemporary Hotel after a wonderful dinner at The Outer Rim (yes, we ate in the bar).

Could not wait to get back and do everything. When we returned six months later, by date had become my bride-to-be!

Walking through the castle. Still impressed to this day. We spent a long time looking at the murals and my mom whispered something in my ear that I hold dear to me still especially since she's since passed away.

my first ride was winnie the pooh at age 5 and i screamed and cried because the floating ghost pooh terrified me ("HE'S DEAD AAAA") - same goes for the next few rides my parents took me on which iirc were pirates and small world. maybe more but i can't remember, my vivid memories of my first trip are crying on those three rides

I really miss walking through the castle - - - every time we have been there some show was blocking it.

For our first family trip (my husband and I had each been to MK as kids), I had planned our vacation down to the minute. We arrived mid-afternoon on a Saturday, headed straight to BTMRR to grab (paper!) FP...it was going to be our first ride as a family, three hyper excited children in tow. However...our FP window didn't open for 30 minutes! SM line was too long, didn't want to backtrack over to Pirates or JC--remember, I had this touring plan and I wasn't going out of order! So we called an audible and hopped on the raft to Tom Sawyer Island. That's right, my kids' first ride on their first trip to WDW was totally underwhelming. We've made three additional trips since then, and they refuse to get anywhere near this attraction now. (I loved it, BTW.)

im not sure what our first ride will be this year. could be Everest, as we have a 11:45 ADR at yak and yeti for a "welcome home" family dinner. as a side note i found a few pictures of my first ever trip to a disney park in 2001 i believe it was. The hand was still on space ship earth, and that day time parade that they stopped ( not jamming jungle the other one) was still happening. Remnants of the millennium celebration early 2001. If i can get the scanner working ill share.

First ride in WDW was The Haunted Mansion circa 1995, I loved it and it is still my first ride every trip. Now my first ride at Disneyland circa 1959 was the submarine ride.
