Here's an interesting blurb about the Fantasy from Cruise Industry News. Here's the link:

http://www.cruiseindustrynews.com/cruise-news/6581-disney-fantasy-set-for-nyc-christening.html

Here's the blurb:

Disney Fantasy Set for NYC Christening?

While Disney Cruise Line has not announced an official christening venue for its new 4,000-passenger, 128,000-ton Disney Fantasy, the newbuild is scheduled to be berthed at Manhattan’s cruise terminal from February 28 through March 2, 2012, for four days, before heading south for Port Canaveral, according to sources familiar with the matter.

The Disney Dream was christened in Florida this past January, and with the Disney Magic homeporting in New York this coming summer, the Disney Fantasy may be set for a New York christening, or at minimum, a preview event.

What is offered at a typical preview event? Is it a tour of the boat or a "cruise to nowhere"?

That's a good question! I don't recall a preview event for the Dream. There were preview cruises, so maybe a cruise to nowhere is what they mean? The Dream christening immediately preceded a 2 night preview cruise out of Port Canaveral.

That's pretty early for a preview cruise or christening though, almost a month before the sailing. I just don't know if they'll have the insides done by then!

They could have enough of it done to give tours though. My guess is it would only be for invited guests but that would be awesome if it was open to more than that.

That would be excellent publicity!

Thanks for the info - I would LOOOOVE to get on the boat for a preview event - kids are starting to get close to what my husband and I consider cruising age - so I am anxious to see what they have to offer (the commercials make it look SPECTACULAR).

It does look spectacular!! I should be on a preview cruise and I can't wait!

I know that HGTV was giving away a preview cruise but that contest ended. I don't know if anyone else is giving one away but if I see a contest, I'll post!

If there is a preview cruise out of NYC, how could I get on it???? That's a serious question. Will it be available to the public? Do you have to be a travel agent?

It would be my only chance to see it for over a year, so I would be willing to pay a premium to get onboard. Any thoughts?

I'm pretty sure there won't be a preview cruise, just preview tours. It probably won't be completely finished by then.

I received an invitation for a tour on the 29th yesterday. It's non transferable and I can't take anyone else with me or I would see who wants to go!

I'm going to try to make it up to NYC. I hate to miss seeing the Fantasy there.

If I hear of any tours open to the public I will definitely post!
