The fact that I can’t buy an annual pass is absurd

Allears.net posted something on Twitter about AP’s being available if you had an AP and cancelled during pandemic time. I fell into that category so I called in today and was able to purchase tickets with an expiration date of 2030.

I thought you could buy APs even out of state, no or just if you have DVC?

Anyone can buy Platinum APs. DVC can also buy Gold passes. Florida residents can buy any type. (If I am incorrect, someone will surely point it out.)

The issue at play here is that no one can buy a new pass in the COVID era - only people with existing APs can renew at this time. There's some exceptions, as mentioned in this thread, for people who had passes that expired during the past COVID year who might be able to buy a new pass.

There has been some rumors that once Blizzard Beach opens that they might start selling annual passes again.

He's bald and very greasy looking, constantly rubbing his hands together for more money........
Reminds me of Mr.Burns.

I meant that they aren’t selling passes because they do not want Florida residents flooding the parks...they are only open in “maintenance” mode for Wall Street and riding out the storm until the real money starts coming back.

But the Simpsons joke was much better 😂

I'm in the same boat. My pass expired in January of 20. However I had some type of deal that was equivalent to get 2 extra months or something like that. The pass was good through the middle of March. So when the pandemic forced the shut down I figured I had 30 days to renew and chose to wait to see how things played out. Fast forward to mid-April, I decide what the heck I'll renew. They told me that although the expiration of the pass was Mid-March, the 30 day clock began ticking in January and the free months weren't a part of the calculation. So, no pass for me. I called BS on that - as I'm sure without the pandemic I would have no problem in renewing.

Called several times with no luck. Long story short, I've been on the new Fla Res 4 day tickets when I've gone back. Found that I'm spending more time at Uni now - at least until Disney opens the AP's back up (If they ever do).

Problem I have with the Fla Res 4 day ticket - is I feel a bit of pressure to stay the full day considering I'm being limited to admission based on the days I purchase. With the AP I had no problem going to a park for 4 hours and then chilling back at the resort. Now, when I go - I'm rope drop to almost close in the parks.

So update time!

Went to Disney Springs and explained my situation and how the pass expired back in September. They said that yes new passes are on hold but since I had a pass that expired after the COVID closure I could buy the pass of my choice. Ended up upgrading to gold with the monthly plan.

Already have a reservation for Hollywood Stuidos tomorrow and planning on park hopping to EPCOT after my Rise time!

We actually just let our AP expire last week, knowing we wouldn’t be able to get them back for the foreseeable future. They’ve gotten unbearably busy for Covid times (along with other theme parks), so we pretty much got rid of all our passes for the time being (Disney, Universal, Busch Gardens). We’ll see how it goes in 2022 I suppose.
