What is the essence of Disney Magic?

What are the critical factors that make Disney special?

Any opinions?

Well lets see.. the fairytales coming to life.. the pixie dust.. the ability for even adults to be immersed in the world of makebelieve and be someone else.. somewhere else just for a little while. The kid friendliness in a world that isn't exactly kid friendly. The smiling faces, great cast members, happy children. The stories....

And Mickey ;).

I hope that was a decent answer :) :).

THAT'S what i love about the place! when i was a kid, it didn't seem to be that big of a deal...i guess because i was still an innocent child and didn't know some of the things i know now :lookaroun but now that i'm older and i know more about *ahem* 'adult' things, Disney is STILL kid friendly, and it's a place where i can go and get away from a corrupt, perverted world. i dunno...some people don't seem to want to hang on to their child within (which includes my sister...) i, however, try to hold onto every thread of it i possibly can. i cherish those carefree, innocent moments that pass much too quickly in life, and though i may never have them back, that'll never keep me from trying. and Disney, being a kid friendly environment certainly helps me hang onto those moments and those memories. and for that, i am eternally grateful!

Part of it, IMO, comes from the dreamers and builders from the company's past that have shaped "Disney" into what it is, or at least what it stands for today. With whatever problems the company faces nowadays, I can always look back to the people that made Disney so popular and fun in the first place, people like the Disney Bros, the nine old men, Herb Ryman, Ken Anderson, Marc Davis, Yale Gracey, etc. History is an important part of any succesful business, and with the right team of people, you can build and create and imagine a lot, which in turn can entertain and inspire years into the future.

So --

1. A place where anyone can experience and enjoy the innocence and carefree days of childhood -- whether or not they're a child.

2. A place that fosters and encourages imagination, and brings the dreams of creative people to reality, and at the same time successfully builds an incredibly successful business based on these things.

Why has Disney been so successful at this when others have failed?

I think it's two-fold. First, it's the imagination of everyone who has ever helped create something original and magical. There's just something about a great disney thing(movie, attraction, etc.) that leaves such a great impression and "wow's" us. The second is the ability to make you feel immersed in a different world. You can forget about the real world and become so entrenched inside the "disney world". It's just an amazing feeling that isn't duplicated anywhere else.

Definitely the total immersion.

It begins with your wake-up call from Mickey ("up and at 'em!" -- although I hear that it is Stitch now).

Then you look around and realize that you might be in 1902 Florida, or the South Pacific, or New England, or Jamaica, or New Orleans, or perhaps somewhere in Mexico. Then you see the hidden Mickey in the design of your bedspread and realize that you are indeed in Florida and it is today, and you need to get out of bed and hit the parks .

Off to the bathroom for Mickey soap and shampoo -- "Everybody all neat and pretty.."

Out the door to walk to breakfast or the bus stop--the landscaping is so amazing you want to linger, but that big bus is on its way.

Look out the window--even the road signs wear mouse ears.

(ok--I think you get the point. All of these seemingly little things add up to what I love about Disney)

Disney truly is a dream come true: to man, and to progress itself. Magic Happens.

It's really a personal touch, sparked by...

**PROGRESS, INSPIRATION, and CREATION**

...brought to life in attractions, memorable scores and songs, and memories: NOSTALGIA and FAMILY.

The themes of UNITY and PEACE play roles throughout the realm of Disney - prominent in the keys to the kingdom: Safety, Courtesy, Show and Efficiency.

And of course, that special touch to make the world a better place...

"One little spark of inspiration is at the heart of all creation..."

"Horizons - all shining and new - Horizons where dreams do come true..."

"If we can dream it, then we can do it..."

"Man has a dream, and that's the start. He follows his dream with mind and heart - and when it becomes a reality, it's a dream come true for you and me..."

"Life is a prize - live every minute. Open your eyes and watch how you win it..."

"Improbable...Impossible, no..."

"Though her words are simple and few, listen, listen, she's calling to you. Feed the birds, tuppence a bag...tuppence, tuppence, tuppence a bag." **Please** see my profile.

You

They used to show a film at Traditions... so every cast member saw this at the end of their first day of work. It ran about 20 minutes, and all you saw was interaction between cast and guests, little kindnesses, you might say a touch of pixie dust here and there. Somebody needing something (maybe just a welcoming smile), somebody else sensitive to that need, responding, and there you have it... magic.

Since seeing that film, that's what I've believed. The soundtrack behind those happy images proclaimed "the Magic is You"... and there I would beg to differ. It's not the cast member alone; the magic is just as much in the audience response.

So, Guests, the Magic is You, too!

Lots of magic on this board.

Thank you for the warning that Stitch might be waking me up in the morning. I'll be sure to ask them *not* to do that. (Sorry guys just can't get into Stitch).

Due to a demanding job, to me Disney is all about escapism! It's why I love movies and books too. For a little while you can BE someone else somewhere else in the world. You are not in your little world but you are in Walt Disney World......I can be in France in the morning and Mexico in the afternoon.

So for me it's about escaping the reality of life. Disney is all about fantasy and dreams coming true.

THE ESSENCE OF DISNEY

Disney to me is a place that no matter what you do. No matter where you go. You and your family can be whatever you want to be and forget about the world around you. It is a place where we can all go to get away. No matter what the price tag is to take the stresses of life away and enjoy WDW magic!:D It is the one time that a family can do a vacation and there is something for all to do. There is no pricetag for that kind of magic! The essence of Disney is whatever needs you and your family may require!! That is Disney!!:king:

90 days 21hrs 17min. to go!!:sohappy: :sohappy: :sohappy: :sohappy: :sohappy:

For me it all starts when the person at the front desk hands me my room key/credit card. Its like carte blanche to go nuts. You find your room and turn on the tv to the zippity do dah tip for today and you nearly puke from the excitement as you quickly debate where to go...anywhere, lets just go! The essence lies there just arround every corner.
