The Enchanted Tiki Room set to reopen later in 2011 after sustaining fire damage

Sadly disappointed in the no change in show. They had a golden opportunity here to do something magical and nothing... I loved the original show and I think it's time UNM left the building. I have the original song on my MP3 player and walk around singing it sometimes...

Unfortunately it is a no win situation with this attraction. Before they made the change to the current show attendance was low, they made the change and attendance is still low and the current show is pretty bad (at least in my opinion). So even if they went back to the old show attendance would still most likely be bad so putting money into it to bring it back does nothing for the company. And to put something else in there also is a big challenge because the footprint is so small.

Ya know, I may be in the minority with this, but a part of me wishes the show would just close down instead of keeping UNM around. That's how much I am disappointed in this.

Well, even though we were hoping they'd take this opportunity to revisit the show, honestly, there is something to be said for them tackling it quickly and getting the attraction open again.

I just hope that one day, I shall see a newly refurbed, complete performance of "In the Tiki, Tiki, Tiki, Tiki, Tiki Room" without any rude interruptions. That is my simple wish.

I didn't realize it was still closed.

It's a bummer that I won't even have the option of seeing it when I'm there, but I'll live.

This is just it. People complained before that it was too old and outdated. Now people complain they want the old show back.

The same thing would happen with Carousel Of Progress. Everyone complains that it needs to be updated. As soon as it is, everyone will be asking for the original show back.

Another ten years I guess till the 50th of the awful show, by then they are going to have to do something with it, heres hoping for a turn around at TDO by then.

Even the name is outdated, under new management. :brick:

Honestly, I would be much better with UNM if Iago interrupted AFTER the song. I'd still miss elements of the original and I wouldn't like it, but I'd go on it regularly.

Steve is this official from Disney or just info from a source? I only ask cause it goes against what all the attractions cast members in adventureland have been told.

Carousel of progress just needs a refurb. Sound is fine, animatronics could use some work. Other than that, CoP is fine.

The Enchanted Tiki Room may not have had a crowd or anything, but the thing is, is that it was better than today's version.

The Country Bear Jamboree, we (for the most part) don't want it to go as it is one of the few attractions left from park opening day. Not to mention it came to WDW before DLR . But it is in horrible shape. I don't want to see it go, but if Disney's never going to do anything with it, then I'm ranking as the bottom of rating as TETRUNM.

Back on topic, all Disney had to do was replace a CD, take out iago and zazu, and re-program the animatronics (and add that other host bird back in doh i forgot his name). It's not that hard to do.

Think about it, Tiki Room sucks now, and even tho the original is kind of dull there would be a 10% more crowd coming than today's show as it was at least better in some way than this one.

Really? I'm a seasonal Ad/Lib CM and haven't heard anything at all.

Seasonal might be the key word here, but I keep in touch.

Update: Asked an ATT CM just now and she knows "nothing." Of course, she could be lying because if she did know anything either she wouldn't tell me or I wouldn't tell you, but that's my update.

Even what might seem like a small modification takes a lot more work than just changing a CD and taking out a few birds. Lighting and special effects programs need to be rewritten. Elements from the original show that were removed would have to be added back in. Even the staffing would have to shift to reflect differences in show length. Seems simple, but in reality it is a project. That is why as technology continues to increase they look at ways to make fast switches to attractions. Toy Story Mania is a great example of this.

Needs an update of the finale. And I wouldn't be opposed to a completely updated show that spanned more time, instead of jumping from the 1940s to today. But I'd rather have the original than have Buzz Lightyear bust in and tell George to get with the times.

Did you ask an ICP or a new CP? There are tons of others around who keep up to date on it both at ATT and Jungle.
