The Dumbing down of WDW!

I have noticed a common trend in WDW where they are taking attractions and bringing them down a level.

1. SSE Judy Dench Script: They went from a wonderful and poetic Jeremy Irons script to a nonsensical common script in the new version.

2. New TTA script: Just seems childish and unimaginative.

3. Every attraction has to have some character tie in.

What are your thoughts?

Here is and example

Irons script

The mighty Roman empire bridged three continents with a vast system of roads; the fastest information highways the world had ever known. East, west, north, and south - all roads led to Rome.

But these same roads were turned against Rome by invaders whose destruction left ages of knowledge and wisdom in the ashes that would become the Dark Ages.

Dench

With lessons learned from the Greeks, the Romans create a powerful empire. To move their armies around, they built a system of roads all over the known world. Rome built the first World Wide Web, and it’s leading us into the future.

But then we hit a road block. Rome falls and the great library of Alexandria in Egypt is burned. Much of our learning is destroyed, lost forever- or so we think.

I've said for years that Epcot is suffering from being dumb'd down. The other parks I don't care so much for, but Epcot it's very obvious:

Living Seas - Nemo
Horizons - Mission:Space
World of Motion - Test Track (though TT is a great ride)
Wonders of Life - Closed.
Spaceship Earth - Serious look at communications has turned into a cartoon.
Universe of Energy - Was never exciting, but now it's just plain silly.
El Rio De Tiempo - Gran Fiesta Tour.

I think WDW is just falling in line with the rest of society. Rather then encouraging people to try harder and seek achievement, we bring it down a few notches so everyone can "get it".

Have you evevr watched the movie Idiocracy? It's heading to a city near you!

That is just sad instead of striving to be better we are just making everyone equal :brick:

Unfortunately Disney is appeasing their customers. One of the knocks on EPCOT early on was that it was too educational. We have seen a massive shift from very educational rides to more fun rides. EPCOT is becoming more like the other parks.

Which is sad!

Even though I would prefer the old SSE the changes were for the better of the park as it was always thought of as too educational, which was seen as boring and park attendance was terrible, without this dumbing down Epcot could have become the Walt Disney Studios of WDW!

It's sad really but unfortunately pretty true:shrug:

Need proof of the dumbing down? See above.

Let's face it though everything sounds clever in a british accent ;)

Unless it's mine, I sound like a high pitched cross between Russell Brand and ________ Van ;)

Never said you were lying. The syntax used, the run-on sentence and grammar are what I am pointing out.

And this is relevant how??

I am typing this on an iPhone which as most know is not the easiest to type on. I am just contributing to this thread to call me out as a contributing factor to this dumbing down is quite obtuse!!

Yeates, Pound or Joyce did well without the benefit of modern technology. Sorry to ruffle your feathers but to complain about the dumbing down of EPCOT while dumbing down a discussion forum is, well obtuse.

I simply agreed with a point that was made about the dunbing down of Epcot!

The fact that you took it upon yourself to single out my post rather than contributing in a construtive way to the thread speaks volumes about you!

Yeah, I gotta say - Not cool. This isn't the type of forum where people tear on people for grammar. There are plenty of mean online message boards for that type of crap.
