The dreaded turkey legs

Yes, the calories are massive but you're on vacation so loose up a little bit. Moderation is key. As long as you do not eat one every day on your trip and/or regularly, you should be fine. Anyway, I enjoyed it the first time I had one. First and foremost, it was really salty, which is why people do crave them but I can see the leg being too salty for some people. Most importantly, the meat was moist and not dry. It wasn't undercooked or overcooked from what I can remember. Above all, the eating experience tops all. I mean, getting to eat a turkey like a boss without utensils. That's every carnivore's dream right there!

I will never eat one but I do enjoy watching others eat them. I am pretty sure one's IQ goes down while eating them since they become cave man like and have trouble speaking.

....I.... I took a picture of a guy eating one. I don't like turkey (or dark meat, or anything still attached to a bone) and I couldn't help myself. This guy was sitting there eating, he looked so baffled by reality... I took a pic of him.

I'm a horrible person.

But the photo is great :)

I've heard so many stories about the gigantic "turkey legs". Every time I see someone there eating that beast leg, I think "..why would they eat that?!" You actually get your full serving of calories for a day eating that. That's right. The beast turkey legs are over 2000 calories a drumstick!
Now, I have never tried one. I saw them when I was younger, and they didn't look too appealing to me. And since I am now a vegetarian (September will be a full year of no meat), I will never ever try one.

Ever had one? What are your thoughts on those giant drumsticks?

Where you getting 2000 calories from?? This was discussed before here: http://forums.wdwmagic.com/threads/calories-in-a-smoked-turkey-leg.614525/

Most people I know share a turkey leg anyways. Haha coming on a site like WDWMagic asking "Why would you ever do that??!" about a turkey leg is up there with asking what time the 3:00 parade is or "What's the big deal with Dole Whips" ;)

Haha, well, I got it from a different site (*cough* YouTube *cough*) and someone said that they have a friend who works there, and their friend said the turkey legs were 2000 calories. :S a bit confusing, but still. :p oh and I LOVE THE DOLE WHIPS!

Good luck staying under 2000 calories at Disney World. I don't think the people eating those are in the slightest bit concerned about that. I'm not a big fan of turkey legs either. But when I'm on vacation - I'm going to eat :)

Haha, same. But I just wanted to see how others felt about those giant turkeys. Hey, I booked reservations for the Cape May Cafe twice. That's where I'm gonna pig out! xD I miss those little Mickey ear Oreos. mmm

Thanks for yet another opportunity to discuss the amazing turkey leg. I'm not counting calories on vacation so I could give a rats about if its too much. I like them. They are tasty to me and if I could I would double fist turkey legs until I passed out from sodium overload.

GOOD! If you disliked turkey legs AND Dole Whip that's grounds for tar and feathering round these parts:)

CHEERS!!!! We buy a turkey leg once a trip and if my DS gets his way it will be twice! We all split one and take lots of pictures and laugh. It is Disney and time to cut loose! I eat healthy all year round. I am a huge fan of moderation and knowing when to say no and when to say YES, bring it on!!!!!!!!!!!

I tried one several years ago and, while it is tasty, a little goes a LONG way. About 4 bites is enough. I'm not a fan of the dark meat of poultry either but it is so thoroughly smoked that you really don't notice. Too bad they can't just sell "pulled turkey" the same way there is pulled pork or pulled chicken.

Yea!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Another vegetarian here, can't have too many meat avoiders! LOL I'm a vegan, no animal products except maybe a little honey in my tea. That being said I live in a house full of male carnivores:eek: and worse yet my boys love those let's just say those things:eek:
