I completely agree with this comment. I used to love to go the Disney Store, but in the past few years it seems like it becoming nothing but kid's clothes and costumes.Originally posted by MicBat
Some of the stuff they offer in the catalog is pretty interesting (snow globes, lithos, etc). But whenever I go into the Disney Store, I feel like I've walked into a little girl's bedroom. The place is nothing but Disney Princess items. Not even can you find many dvd's and videos when you go into the Disney Store anymore. And whatever happened to their line of "beanies"???

Now I almost feel odd going in there being a 20's something single guy. I usually take a quick glance at the CD/DVD's and pins and then I am gone. I used to spend much more time on a average visit (but prolly still more time than the average person in the mall  ) It seems the stores are strictly marketed to people with kids 1-7 and nothing else.
I think they should model the Disney Stores after the great gift shops in Disney World but with Disney things vs. WDW things.
If they had merchandise at the Disney Store similar to the WDW gift shops, I would spend tons and time that I do now at the Disney Store!

I find it hard to beleive they would just throw the towel in on all the stores, but I would not be surprised to see a number of them close.........but if they keep on focusing solely on little princesses and little toy story fans, they are gonna lose a lot of devoted disney fans who are really the heart of Disney.....I dont understand their thinking......As an adult w/o small kids I feel angry that they dont consider me important enough to carry anything I would like.....I dont understand why they think that adults as a demographic do not matter----but it seems to be a company wide philosophy---check out the Disney Channel lately? You gotta expose kids to the whole stable of Disney characters, not just the multiple reruns of Boy Meets World and Sister Sister.......If you dont even show the old classics how on earth do they think that kids who didnt grow up with these characters will have any attachment to them at all? Disney's success is built on emotional connections....I bet everyone on this board can tell you their first Disney movie? or can tell you about Walt Disney, more than just him being the guy the park is named after....why were there no biographic shows on the Disney Channel during the 100 years celebration??? Shame shame.......I hope they get it together and remember that not everyone is enchanted by the new princess stores......
Very well put jmarc63. Those Disney-type shows was one of the main reasons I watched the Disney Channel. I am not saying they should completely get rid the regular shows (Boy Meets World, Lizzie McGuire, etc.) but they definitely needs to show more Disney themed shows. I think this especially applies with the Disney Channel (vs. ABC Family) because, unless its changed recently and I missed it, DC doesn't show regular commercials.Originally posted by jmarc63
Boy ... I don't know if I could have said it better myself, I totaly agree with you!! . I jist don't get either , having Disney properties like the Broadcast and cable but not show Disney classic product, That doesn't seem to be good business sense to me.
