The Disney Princesses – Where are they from?
Snow White (1937) - Germany?
Cinderella (1950) - Holland?
Sleeping Beauty (1959) - France?
Ariel (1989) - ?
Beauty / Belle – (1991) - France
Jasmine (1992) – Morocco?
Tiana (2009) - USA
<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />I just finished watching Cinderella and that got me thinking about all the Disney princesses and where they are from. I noticed that I really don't have any idea of the countries where these movies take place. Hopefully somebody can help me out or this will bug me. :confused:
Is Mulan a princess? Did I leave anyone out? :veryconfu
Thanks!

You are asking what country Ariel is from? :lol: Or Prince Erik? :lookaroun

Mulan = China

Jasmine = Agrabah :lookaroun

In the book, "Dreams Come True, Art of the Classic Fairy Tales From the Walt Disney Studio," Snow White is noted to be a Grimm brothers fairy tale and her original name was "Schneewittchen." :eek:

Cinderella was originally written by Charles Perrault and published in Tales of Mother Goose in 1697. She was very likely French, although the Disney portrayal suggests Austria to me. :D Mary Blair (its a Small World)
contributed several sketches for Walt Disney's Cinderella.

Yes, Sleeping Beauty is French, as is Belle from Beauty and the Beast.

The Little Mermaid was based on the story written by Hans Christian Andersen, Denmark.

Thank you! That has helped a lot.
