Today at Galaxy's Edge they started selling the Darksaber from the Mandalorian inside Dok-Ondar’s. Here's a picture from Disneyland News Today:

Doesn't seem to be really worth the price, but as far as I'm aware this is the first Mandalorian themed merchandise to be exclusive to GE, with Disney previously having merch carts under the bridge (technically in Frontierland) selling Mando knick knacks so not to break canon. Makes me wonder if we'll see more themed experiences for the Mandalorian come very soon to Galaxy's Edge.

"The Mandalorian Darksaber" 🤣

It got 20x more screen time in The Clone Wars and Rebels. Din Djarin's been in possession of it for like what.....10 seconds?

Sabine will always be the true owner in my eyes.

That price seems entirely appropriate to me.

The blade looks incredible in the dark, albeit kind of lame in daylight. The hilt is the same quality as the other GE sabers, which sell for the same price.

The price borders on a bargain (when compared to Disney pricing of course). Lightsaber hilts (no blade) range from $120-$200. A blade is an additional $50 +/-. It also includes a display stand. It is a cheap plastic one and not metal like the ones they sell in the park, but is a functional stand. At $200, it is the least expensive hilt, blade, and stand combo they offer.
$199.99. And it seems to be mostly made out of plastic, so yeah it's pricey....
The hilt is metal, not plastic.
It must be the super premium box that you're playing an extra $160 for.
The box is arguably one of the only things you could really complain about. Most of the other special boxes are plastic. This one is cardboard. Granted it is high-quality cardboard, (think iPhone or Samsung phone box quality) but cardboard nonetheless.

From what I've read in other areas, the Disney sabers are all ridiculously overpriced. People that actually cosplay saber battles say the Disney blades are too flimsy to actually use. There are several places to buy better quality sabers, if you are truly into that sort of thing. However, if you want a cool souvenir and fun DL experience at the workshop, then the Disney saber fits that bill.

Personally, I'm happy with the cheap-o sabers we bought from Amazon. We can play with them and if they break, I won't feel like I lost a small fortune. We've had some fun late-night living room duels in our house. My daughter is a fan of ambushing us in the dark hallway. 🤣

Also.... Am I correct in understanding that the Disney blades do not retract? Seems like a ridiculous oversight.

For what you get and compared to what else is out there, they are priced about right to a little high. Depending on where you go and what you get, it is not hard to find lightsabers in excess of $1000. $250-$350 is a pretty good sweet spot for attractive well made light sabers.

What Disney sells are not dueling sabers. They are display pieces. They will take a little torture, but they are not designed for it. There are a number of companies that do make sabers designed for dueling. Most basic no-frills dueling sabers start at just shy of $100. While the $100 dueling sabers will take a beating, they are nowhere near as ornate as higher-priced dueling sabers or display pieces.

The picture below is a base level dueling saber from Rebel sabers priced at $90.

The picture below is the Dark Rey dueling saber from Saber Forge. Fully loaded it prices at more than $1300.

Right now, Disney is the only company I know of that has a lightsaber, dueling or display, with a truly retractable blade and it is not publicly available yet. I have yet to see one up close so I am keeping my expectations tempered.

Disney reveals its ‘real’ lightsaber, and it looks extremely cool

I remember looking at the patent and thinking "To achieve this the hilt is going to have to be huge!" From the looks of it (if that's the same saber from the patent), it's definitely pretty large.

I was thinking the same thing. I really hope that the actress in the video is like 5'-1" and the hilt only appears to be too big. ;)

Either way, the thing will be a 10 year old Yoda's dream come true.
